Description

DomainTools is seeking an experienced leader to head up our Cloud, DevOps Platform, and TechOps teams. This position will lead the engineers responsible for designing, building, and operating our production deployment systems. 

Our team's vision is to create a self-service, developer-centric DevOps platform that allows for continuous integration and deployment of our world class security applications to our hybrid On-prem and AWS environments. We are curating a list of best in class tools while building what is missing to accelerate engineering productivity, reduce operational toil, increase consistency and improve the lives of coworkers every day. 

At DomainTools, we confront the challenges of collecting, ingesting, processing, searching, alerting and contextualizing internet-scale data for use in real-time threat intelligence, defense and investigation.

Location: Remote - US

Compensation: $170,000 - $210,000 (Base + 15% bonus)

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of talented engineers, and connect with them personally and professionally. Provide leadership and mentorship.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain talent to ensure the staff has the skills and capabilities to meet development needs.
  • Collaborate with development teams to understand requirements, propose changes, and gain alignment. Predict needs of your teams and customers.
  • Define and implement processes to track, update, and modify multiple dev/test environments, including the ability to create new ones quickly or remove unused ones.
  • Prepare for, and carry out, extensive zero-downtime migrations throughout our hybrid development and deployment lifecycle. 
  • Own, and drive accountability across the organization for deployment cost measurement, controls, and engineering to deliver a fiscally responsible operations environment. 
  • Provide guidance on best practices regarding application performance, cost-effectiveness, security, and reliability.
  • Assist in designing real-time internet-scale data processing and management.
  • Assist in design of a platform for software and infrastructure management spanning cloud and on-prem systems.
  • Engage in on-call participation with your team of 24/7 operations engineers around the world.

Key Applicant Qualifications

  • 7+ years experience in some combination of software/hardware/systems technology leadership role.
  • 5+ years development experience building resilient platforms and/or SaaS solutions using container and orchestrations technologies. 
  • Experience designing, building, and operating internet-scale, hybrid platform.
  • Strong technologist, broadly conversant in modern approaches to software engineering, systems engineering, operations, and infrastructure management.
  • Proven ability to interact, present and influence at all levels of companies, from executives to engineers.
  • Experience with and passion for working in the internet security space.

Pluses

  • Masters degree or higher in Computer Science/related field or equivalent experience
  • Have strong opinions, loosely held
  • Experience in design, implementation and maintenance of CI/CD automation and tooling
  • Excellence in at least one programming languages that we use; Python 3, Golang, Rust
  • Experience in streaming data pipelines (Kafka)
  • Familiarity with big data ecosystem technologies including RDBM’s, NoSQL and Data Warehousing  
  • Experience working with threat intelligence products, Whois data, DNS data, SSL certificate data, web crawl data, and related technologies
