The reason behind the role... We are seeking a strategic Director of Payments to lead our payments operations function while driving the commercialization and growth strategy of our payments solution. This leader will oversee the end-to-end payments lifecycle, ensuring seamless transactions, optimizing processes, mitigating risks, and enhancing the overall customer experience. Additionally, they will define the go-to-market strategy, drive adoption, and maximize revenue opportunities. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in payments operations, fintech, or SaaS, with a proven track record of driving operational excellence, compliance, and successfully launching and scaling payments products in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Payments Strategy & Execution: Develop and execute a comprehensive payments strategy, aligning with company objectives, as well as customer and market needs.
  • Drive Revenue Growth: Drive adoption of payments across the existing customer base and new sales and drive monetization of invoiced volume across the portfolio.
  • Risk & Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with industry regulations, payment network rules, and security protocols, mitigating fraud and chargeback risks.
  • Vendor & Partner Management: Partner with payment processors, banks, and fintech firms to optimize performance, reduce costs, and expand market reach through strategic collaborations.
  • Customer Experience: Deliver a world-class customer experience for both our customers and their customers.  Collecting payments should be seamless and easy.
  • Payments Evangelism:  Spread the gospel of payments throughout the organization and train Sales, Onboarding, Customer Success, and Support functions on our payments solution.
  • Market Research & Sales Enablement: Conduct market research to identify trends, pain points, and opportunities, while providing sales and success teams with training, and resources to drive payment adoption.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Customer Success, and Finance teams to support payments-related initiatives and product enhancements.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage data analytics to monitor key metrics, analyze performance data, and iterate strategies to maximize impact.

Does this sound like you?

  • 8+ years of experience in payments operations, fintech, SaaS payments, or related go-to-market roles.
  • Proven track record in launching and scaling payments products with deep expertise in payment processing, ACH, card networks, chargebacks, and compliance.
  • Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Experienced in leading cross-functional teams, working with payment processors, gateways, and financial institutions to drive alignment and execution.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and storytelling abilities.
  • Passionate about innovation, process improvement, and delivering customer value.
