As the Director of Online Instruction, you will play a key role in delivering the educational experience that students from around the world receive in our online courses. In this role, you will oversee the instructors and management staff for our AoPS Online and Virtual Campus online classes, keeping the quality bar for our instruction high while promoting operational efficiency.

The Director of Online Instruction will:

  • Oversee the instructional management team responsible for delivering educational services provided by AoPS Online and the Virtual Campus. 
  • Ensure a high standard for the quality of instruction and grading for all online classes.
  • Oversee class staffing, including seasonal planning and last-minute substitutions, as well as the hiring, training, and evaluation of instructors, teaching assistants, and graders.
  • Drive continuous improvement in the Online Instruction space through data-driven insights and operational enhancements.
  • Manage expenses for online instructional teams and lead initiatives to improve staffing efficiency.
  • Oversee recurring projects and tasks, such as seasonal course scheduling and regular observation of staff, ensuring smooth execution and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with company leadership to set priorities, policies, and operational improvements for online classes, working cross-functionally with engineering and product teams as needed.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for instructional inquiries and concerns, driving troubleshooting, planning, and cross-functional coordination

The ideal candidate has:

  • Strong expertise in math, science, or computer science education, with the ability to set and implement high instructional quality standards.
  • Proven experience in people management, preferably managing other managers.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, adapting swiftly to changes and new challenges.
  • Proficiency in leveraging technology creatively to solve complex problems and improve systems.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills for evaluating data and managing large-scale operations and projects.
