How you will make an impact
The Director, National Accounts, leads Halozyme’s payer initiatives to develop our specialty pharmacy network and grow our business in telemedicine. In this role, you develop and implement market access strategies that build long-term value for Halozyme by ensuring profitable formulary access and developing a robust specialty pharmacy program. As the subject matter expert, the Director, National Accounts provides managed markets insights and serves as an integral part of the Commercial team.
In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Collaborate closely with the VP of Market Access and Commercial Operations, developing access and reimbursement strategies and overseeing the implementation of tactics across all channels and customers (i.e., Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and Federal payers).
- Lead an external contracted account management team, directing their account activities to secure and maintain coverage within the commercial channel.
- Develop, implement, and refine national payer opportunities and access strategies for key accounts, ensuring profitable access and reimbursement.
- Optimize the product’s formulary positioning and increase market share through leadership of collaborative pull-through initiatives with field sales and brand marketing.
- Assist in developing managed market messaging for brands, ensuring alignment across the organization.
- Deliver slide decks and associated resources, including value proposition and other supporting payer marketing tools.
- Provide account management services that optimize patient access while mitigating potential barriers.
- Work with clinical, medical, pharmacy, and/or executive advocates to influence functions within customers’ businesses.
- Promote and differentiate Commercial products to key executives and decision makers within assigned accounts.
- Develop and implement an overarching channel strategy to grow volume in the channel, partnering with Field Sales to seek opportunities to expand the SP network consistent with channel strategy and business objectives.
- Vet potential new SPs in coordination with the VP of Sales and Regional Sales Managers, leading contract negotiations and maintenance, conducting Quarterly to Annual Business Reviews, overseeing operational improvements, and coordinating supply chain efforts with the VP of Trade and National Accounts.
- Evaluate potential telemedicine partners to grow this nascent channel of our business by identifying and profiling regional and national accounts to establish business potential.
- Effectively manage budgets and project timelines as needed.
- Represent the company at major payer and trade conferences.
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree (business or life sciences preferred) with a minimum of 15 years of pharmaceutical industry experience (an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered)
- Minimum of 10 years of Managed Markets responsibility, including payers and Specialty Pharmacies. Must have experience building effective specialty pharmacy networks
- Current working relationships with Payer GPOs, MCOs, PBMs, SPs, and other customer channels.
- Ability to lead with and without authority, influencing and motivating teams and driving business.
- Excellent oral, written, and group communication skills, including presentation and facilitation skills.
- Remote position with the ability to travel up to 50% and live within 30 miles of an airport.

The most likely base pay range for this position is $165K - $231K per year. Several factors, such as experience, tenure, skills, and particular business needs, will determine an individual’s exact level of compensation. Base salary is only one element of employee compensation at Halozyme. Total compensation could include bonuses, sales incentives, and equity awards.
