As the Director of HW Systems at SambaNova Systems, you will be responsible for leading a multi functional team of world class Hardware Systems Engineers to deliver the most cutting edge Enterprise AI Hardware Systems from concept to production. You will play a key role in SambaNova leading the industry as the #1 Platform for Business AI.

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead AI hardware system design from concept to volume production, including technology evaluation, vendor selections, board design, board validation, regulatory, quality and reliability.
  • Conduct competitive analysis to stay at the forefront of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in AI hardware design.
  • Define long-term technology roadmaps and strategic initiatives with internal and external technology partners to maintain a competitive edge in the market.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership, driving hardware systems strategy, including technical decisions and trade-offs.
  • Drive the design of high-quality products with high first-pass yields at manufacturing.
  • Demonstrate strong project management and leadership skills defining processes and tools to drive engineering execution with maximum efficiency and predictable outcomes.
  • Manage and mentor a team of hardware engineers with diverse experience levels across all areas of system design.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that drives innovation and accountability.

Preferred Experience

  • 20+ years of Hardware Development Engineering experience
    • 10+ years of People Management, building and leading a world-class engineering team, including experts in all areas of system design
  • Proven track record of leading successful Hardware Systems engineering teams, delivering high-quality systems and products on time and within budget, especially Data Center AI/HPC Hardware Systems.Deep understanding of AI systems, system-level architecture, and performance optimization as well as a strong understanding of trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies.
  • Familiarity with datacenter infrastructure requirements, including scalability, energy efficiency, and operational reliability.
  • Expertise in design areas such as high-speed interconnects, mechanical design, high-power delivery, thermal/cooling systems as well as validation and bring-up/debug of complex server, storage and networking platforms.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Annual Salary Range and Level

The base salary for this position ranges from $230,000/year up to $280,000/year. This range is based on role, level, and location and reflects the salary target for new hires in the US. Individual pay within the range will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s job-related qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.
