Job Description
We are seeking an experienced, self-motivated individual to join the team to provide clear and efficient financial visibility to support decision-making by Senior Leaders. The Director, Financial Planning and Analysis will direct and lead all complex financial planning and analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and consolidated management reporting for the Company. Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, this is a highly strategic position that interacts extensively with the CFO as well as delivering financial support to the Executive Leadership Team. A successful candidate can recognize, implement, and champion change and has a strong work ethic. In addition, this candidate must have the ability to balance between creating disciplined processes and being nimble to ensure deliverables move forward. The right individual for this role has a passion for excellence, can effectively prioritize multiple requests, and is a strategic thinker that can effectively articulate the big picture while still understanding the detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides leadership to a team of five and ensures staff delivers excellent customer service to internal customers
- Supports Senior Leaders by delivering clear visibility to financials, interpreting results, providing solutions, and recommending actions
- Oversees the forecasting, budgeting, and long-range plan processes, which includes profit planning, sales and direct margin forecasts, expense budgets, working capital, cash flow estimates and sensitivity analysis
- Collaborates, facilitates, and leads the monthly financial close process with other accounting and finance leaders to ensure timely and accurate results are summarized with key business drivers used in CFO leadership discussions
- Ensures the delivery of key quarter end reporting and analytics in support of Board of Directors (BOD) and Leadership meetings, Investor Relations activities, and quarterly earnings communication
- Continually monitors company performance versus annual plan and key quarterly forecasts
- Ensures one version of the truth for key financial information and analysis such as, but not limited to, sales, direct margin, volume/price impact, material inflation cost tracking, unit & share reporting, operating expenses, working capital, and bonus metrics
- Leads the identification and development of tools and processes to improve analytical capabilities with the goal of creating an environment where time is spent more on analysis versus data gathering.
- Responsible for the financial modeling of M&A opportunities to ensure the company maximizes ROI through key financial analysis of IRR, multiples, synergies, etc.
- Prepares and analyzes key competitor and external financial metrics and trends
- Prepares presentations for use in leadership and BOD discussions
- Advise, consult, and coordinate with key positions across all functions
- Performs ad hoc analysis and participates in special projects, as necessary
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting and/or other related major required; MBA and/or other professional designation (CPA, CFA, etc.) preferred.
Experience
A successful candidate will have a minimum of 12 years of related experience with increasing levels of responsibility within finance/accounting.
Required Skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills
- Capable of taking complex data and synthesizing it in the context of forecasting, budgeting, and ad hoc analysis with an ability to explain results in an easy-to-understand manner
- Ability to prioritize workload to achieve effective results in a fast-paced and growing environment
- Exceptional critical thinking skills, including the ability to recognize and incorporate the financial impacts of relevant industry and market information on forecasts, reporting and analysis.
- Experience working with large-scale ERP systems, data, reporting tools, and other financial systems (i.e. Oracle and OneStream)
- Must have advanced or expert skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
