Who You Are
You have a deep understanding of payments and you understand that compliance and risk mitigation are central to creating value for our customers. You are a self-starter who is excited to build something from the ground up. You have expert knowledge on Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and fraud monitoring and an operational mindset. You are fluent in industry standards, rules and regulations, and you are able analyze data to formulate a consensus for future processes.
What You’ll Do
As the Director of Financial Crimes Compliance, you'll be joining TabaPay’s Compliance team to own and drive the strategy, growth, effectiveness, and operational efficiency of our Fraud and AML processes that include, but are not limited to the following:
- Lead and manage the Financial Crimes Compliance team, overseeing critical functions such as transaction monitoring, fraud control development, ongoing KYC and sanctions screening, and chargeback management.
- Develop and implement comprehensive fraud mitigation strategies for a top-tier acquirer processor at scale, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of industry best practices.
- Execute against applicable AML requirements within the First Line of Defense
- Manage fraud attacks and implement appropriate mitigations with merchants
- Work closely with acquiring banks, card networks, and merchants to develop and enhance financial crime prevention strategies, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal controls.
- Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures for unusual activity investigations, merchant risk assessments, internal risk assessments, and referral processes.
- Influence and collaborate with various teams (e.g. analytics, product, and engineering) to implement potential enhancements
- Utilize advanced data analysis techniques to assess the effectiveness of merchant-implemented fraud controls, providing actionable recommendations to improve fraud prevention strategies.
- Stay ahead of changes to acquirer bank policies and card network rules, ensuring the organization remains fully compliant with applicable regulatory obligations.
- Lead risk assessments for new products and services, ensuring that robust fraud prevention and AML control frameworks are integrated from the outset.
- Define and develop business requirements for payments risk on critical projects, ensuring that fraud prevention and transaction security are prioritized.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience in financial crimes compliance, including fraud prevention and anti-money laundering (AML), ideally at a payment processor, bank, or within the financial services industry at a regulated entity
- Experience within the payments or the regulated financial industry
- 2+ years of people management experience
- Extensive working knowledge of rules and regulations related to payments and a solid understanding of the associated fraud risks with an emphasis in anti-money laundering
- Hands-on experience writing/maintaining transaction monitoring rules and managing a case management system
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex data sets and make data-driven decisions to improve fraud prevention strategies
- Experience planning and executing large-scale risk management projects, from strategy development to implementation
- Ability to develop efficient solutions for complex business challenges
- Extremely strong communication skills and ability to work in a client facing role in which you can develop and maintain genuine relationships with client
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant industry certifications such as CAMS, CFE, or CFCS
- 8+ years of experience in building controls, transaction monitoring, and investigations
- Basic to proficient SQL skills
- Professional work experience within the payments industry
The pay range for this position is $175,000 - $200,000; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
