About the Role
We are looking for a seasoned Director of Engineering, Digital Engagement to lead our efforts in making engaging, rewarding fintech experiences for our customers. LendingClub is offering new tools to improve the financial lives of our members across our product lines, and this role will lead software development to deliver the foundational elements of this experience. The ideal candidate is a seasoned software engineering leader with hands on skills building web and mobile experiences in fintech. The role will need to be passionate about improving people’s lives through technology, empathizing with customer needs to lead a team of deliver an amazing customer experience, driving better financial outcomes for millions of our members.
What You'll Do

Drive the long-term technical strategy for our Digital Engagement experiences, helping our customers manage their debt and achieve better results

Effective people leader, able to attract, hire, and continuously grow top engineering talent

Create a highly collaborative cross functional environment, ensuring technical implementation aligns with business, product, design and other stakeholders, ensuring our designs are both effective and align with risk and information security standards

Brainstorm with our teams, bringing the “art of the possible” to the forefront of what technology can do for our members

Clearly and continuously articulate “What’s Important”, to ensure we focus on the key, critical priorities we need to deliver

Provide technical expertise in web and mobile end-to-end engineering throughout all development phases, from conception through to publishing to the app stores

Help define and drive platform implementations to support our projects

Work closely with product management to deliver cost and time estimates to manage stakeholder expectations, while not sacrificing quality in the process

Continuously assess our SDLC, and if necessary, adapt in service to delivering repeatable, sustainable and scalable engineering results. Influence across the organization to leverage best practices

Ensure data is at the forefront of our designs, available to support customer needs, and mapping user journeys to the analytics KPIs we need to understand how our products are being effective

Drive results through proactively collaborating across organizational boundaries
About You
-
10+ years of software development and software architecture experience and a bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field of study; or equivalent work experience

Deep know-how in the technical architecture, common stacks and engineering tools needed to deliver amazing web and mobile experiences in banking or fintech. Ideally, experience in delivering and/or leading teams working in React Native or Swift/Kotlin native mobile app development; React for web; and Java, Scala, or Python for backend

Deep experience building, mentoring, and leading software engineering teams, with a strong focus on people development and coaching team members

Significant leadership experience delivering consumer-facing web and mobile engineering solutions, with understanding of current industry technology stacks and common approaches, best practices, workflows, and troubleshooting

Hands on skills that are effective in a crisis, a demonstrated ability to quickly lead team through issues resolution, root cause analysis and successfully prioritize corrective action

Possess a deep understanding of UX and UI driving customer experiences, including common blind spots, ideally in fintech spaces

Experience directing with hybrid or remote teams across multiple time zones

A seasoned hand at working with product and design teams in translating their desires into working technology, with past experience in tricky projects

A good communicator, capable of excellent collaboration with cross-functional partners

Strong focus on people development and coaching team members

We are currently working a hybrid schedule and our teams are in-office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursday’s.

Compensation
The target base salary range for this position is 210,000-245,000. The position is also eligible to receive a bonus (which is based on company performance, employee performance and eligible earnings), equity, and benefits. Our salary ranges, other compensation and benefits offered are determined by role, experience level and location.
