Your Opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced and hands-on Director of Compliance & Expansion to lead the Regulatory Compliance & Expansion team within our Compliance Domain.
In this role, reporting directly to the Chief Risk & Compliance Officer, you will define and lead Mollie’s regulatory strategy, support new market entry, and ensure we stay ahead of an evolving regulatory landscape You are someone who thrives at the intersection of regulation and innovation and will work cross-functionally with legal, risk, and product teams to support our product development and growth objectives. Our work ensures Mollie remains a trusted partner for our customers while enabling the business to grow responsibly and sustainably.

What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will define and execute Mollie’s regulatory compliance strategy across Europe, ensuring our frameworks support scalable and sustainable growth, while leading a team of compliance professionals.

Develop and lead the execution of Mollie’s regulatory compliance strategy

Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on compliance and regulatory matters.

Oversee the interpretation and implementation of new and existing regulatory requirements, with a focus on financial services, payments, and fintech.

Lead and grow a high-performing team of regulatory and compliance professionals.

Drive continuous improvement and scalability in our compliance frameworks, policies, and controls.

Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Risk, Product, Engineering, and Business teams to ensure compliant innovation and risk-aware decision making.

Lead licensing projects and act as a key contributor to new market entry and product initiatives.

Provide regulatory advice towards senior stakeholders, both internal and external, in line with their commercial and strategic objectives which allow for scale.
What you’ll bring

Minimum 7-10 years of experience in regulatory compliance and/or legal within financial services, payments, or fintech.

You have extensive knowledge of the UK/European payments, financial services and/or fintech industry.

Leadership experience managing compliance professionals and guiding cross-border compliance efforts.

Deep understanding of European regulatory frameworks, including PSD2, AMLD, and local licensing regimes (e.g., DNB, BaFin, FCA).

A proven track record of working with regulators and regulatory change management.

Ability to lead through complexity, translate regulation into business impact, and balance growth with control.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills—able to engage credibly with internal and external senior stakeholders.

Excellent communication skills in English; additional European languages are a plus.
