Director, Commercial Sales Lead - Germany
Germany Remote
As a Commercial Sales Lead at Illumina, you will stand as the commercial leader for the Germany Region within Europe, reporting the Germany General Manager. This role directs the sales of all the organization’s products or services and develops the region’s long-range sales strategy and forecasts sales volumes. This role is also responsible for developing and implementing plans to meet market demands, setting budgets and objectives, and administering policies.
This is a remote position to be based in Germany where English language is essential for this role. This role will require travel up to 50% across the region and at times across Europe.

Why You:
To be successful in this role you will have extensive, prior sales experience leading a sales function and essentially have skills in the Genomics sector. Expertise in next generation sequencing are also highly preferred, as well as a scientific background, educated within a relevant subject such as Genomics, Molecular Biology or Biology.
The successful candidate must have the ability to direct and coordinate activities of multiple departments, select and develop personnel, and ensure the attainment of financial and operational goals.
Position Responsibilities:
- Leads the cross-functional sales organisation within Germany, which includes technical sales, strategic sales, partner accounts and inside sales teams
- Manages primarily direct selling across the region
- Responsible for leveraging execution resources across commercial functions outside of sales
- Responsible for attainment of revenue target for the business within the geography in support of the company’s overall financial and strategic objectives
- Responsible for developing short- and long-term strategic plans for advancing the company’s products and/or services to meet market demands within the geographic area of responsibility, working within the general financial plans provided by regional commercial management
- Within the region, directs the sales of all the organization’s products or services and develops long-range sales strategy and forecasts sales volumes
- Has regional virtual P&L responsibilities
- Develop and execute growth strategy in Germany, particularly, drive the growth in the clinical market and opportunities that may be unique to the geography
- Work closely with global and other regional counterparts on critical strategic matters and business issues such as competitive positioning, new product launches, new product/solutions investments
- In partnership with regional marketing, build Illumina brand in Germany, enhance collaborations and leverage value from Collaboration Centre and Partnerships
- Drive accelerated and consistent revenue growth and market penetration in both life sciences and clinical market businesses.
- Lead the efforts to ensure there are new products that will be launched in Germany for the market within a reasonable timeframe
- Shape the Illumina company view on new market opportunities for the Germany region
- Identify, recruit and retain top-notch talent that will drive the company's success, creating advancement opportunities and deepening a strong talent development culture that produces outstanding talent needed to sustain a growing enterprise
- Build a high-performance culture; ensure the organization is built with scalability and operational excellence in mind
- Responsible for employee engagement and satisfaction across functions within the sub-region
Position Requirements:
- Possess critical leadership capabilities including strategic thinking, execution orientation, and team leadership
- A scientific background is essential, with skills and expertise within the Genomics field.
- NGS experience highly preferred
- Prior experience leading a cross-functional sales organisation
- Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills and is the type of individual who engenders trust and commitment from within and outside an organization
- Demonstrated experience in being able to manage and navigate the matrix environment
- Demonstrates reputation for integrity and strong personal and professional ethics in all dealings
- Highly driven and is known as being a dedicated executive who exhibits a passion for the business and the opportunities at hand
- Fluent English language skills essential, plus native German
- Flexible to travel internationally up to 50%
