Director, Cloud Engineering - Container CoE
The Role
As the Container COE Squad Leader, you blend application development and deep cloud expertise with a passion for delivering results. As the product owner you are the end-to-end gatekeeper of the squad mission, strategy, and tactical execution associated with delivering on strategic priorities. In an agile structure, you will partner with other Fidelity leaders to influence the broader strategic decisions, roadmaps and resource requirements, set and refine the mission, and bring together a team of chapter members to execute on specific product features that help application teams across Fidelity utilize our cloud ecosystem to its fullest capability.
You will ensure alignment on the “what” and “when” work is to be performed through ongoing planning and prioritization of a product backlog. You will enable squad members to work iteratively, innovate through testing and experimentation and learn from failures while celebrating success. You are committed to developing your own expertise and knowledge to ensure you bring the latest thinking to your role.
- Defining, refining, and communicating the squads' mission and roadmap to motivate and build team and partner support and alignment
- Anticipating, discovering through ongoing interaction with, and prioritizing client / partner needs to serve as their voice and guide execution of the team
- Defining, evaluating, and communicating results against acceptance criteria
- Inspecting and evaluating progress, and removing impediments
- Measuring performance against established objectives and KPI’s that deliver on agreed upon business, technology, and people results
- Collaborating and coordinating with Chapter Leaders and Scrum Masters to build squad capacity and capability and enabling squad member growth, development and learning
- Making informed trade-off decisions to strike the right balance between quality, cost, and timelines
- Engaging with Fidelity and cloud service provider product teams to simplify Container Management usage and build patterns to accelerate feature delivery across the firm
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a technology related field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, etc.) required
- 8-12+ years work experience in several of the following technologies including Kubernetes, CNCF technology, programming languages (Go, Lua, Rust, Java), frameworks and container tooling
- Practical experience in building cloud hosted and native applications for the enterprise.
- Maintains a deep understanding of a wide variety of cloud technology to provide recommendations and advice to Fidelity application teams
- Facilitate feature requests and intake by working with stakeholders for the suite of products within the container product area
- Experience designing, developing and maintaining dynamic products and solutions
- Financial services experience, preferred
- Agile, Jira, and Jira Align experience preferred
- You take a data-focused approach to understanding customer needs, translate strategic objectives into action, and prioritize to improve value delivered
- You grasp sophisticated product features and break them into clear and concise stories with well-defined business value and acceptance criteria and optimally communicate these
- You have a strong focus on execution and identify, communicate and remove impediments to progress
- You are capable of leading, influencing, and motivating colleagues without formal authority, and have a track record of building high-performing teams
- You establish and maintain unquestioning relationships as you work collaboratively across Fidelity to deliver business outcomes and seek out the expertise of colleagues to advise on your approach
- You are intellectually curious and model a culture of continuous learning, mentoring and coaching
- You have or are committed to developing a balance of technology and non-technology skills to fully appreciate the broad needs of our customers
The Team
You work in partnership with the Platform as Service Product Area Leader, other Squad Leaders, and Chapter Leaders aligned to your squad. By demonstrating and promoting Fidelity and agile leadership behaviors, you sustain and evolve our innovative agile culture. You will integrate with development teams across Fidelity to understand their usage and need of cloud services to drive efficient and intelligent adoption of cloud at scale.
The base salary range for this position is $103,000-$218,000 per year.
Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.
Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
