JOB SUMMARY

The Director, Business Development has primary responsibility for business development and sales in assigned region and segment(s) for identifying, evaluating, recommending, and negotiating value-added development and manufacturing contracts for clients. The Director, Business Development will serve as a key member of the Global Business Development Team.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify, open, lead and close contracts for new projects with new and existing clients that promote company visibility, growth and profitability. Formulate and implement strategies that substantially increase revenue and market share in the region.
  • Develop and execute on sales territory plan, with the objective of achieving annual sales targets for territory through acquisition of new deals.
  • Implement strategies aimed toward increasing revenue and market share in the target region.
  • Establish contact with prospective clients that meet targeted profile. Visit clients and communicate company capabilities with appropriate personnel.
  • Facilitate site visits by prospective clients. Set agenda, coordinate team participation and lead discussions. Follow up with clients after the site visit providing diligent feedback and strategies to address any concerns. Lead the closing of client deals.
  • Actively participate in the development of a comprehensive and effective marketing plan for the region.
  • Build and sustain effective relationships and alliances both internally and externally to ensure that business opportunities are identified, analyzed and pursued in a timely manner.  Consolidate customer information into customer relationship management system, organizing and tracking prospects and partnerships.
  • May be responsible for assisting in the negotiation of Strategic Account Agreements acting at times as the primary company representative.
  • Provide market intelligence acquired through sales initiatives to business development and other cross-functional teams.
  • Develop, nurture and maintain a positive, constructive and trusting working relationship with members of the relevant teams at the global sites, as well as the Business Development Team.
  • Coordinate both internal and external technical, legal and/or financial due diligence activities on specific business opportunities.
  • Represent the company at various trade shows, community and/or business meetings.
  • Deliver the expected number of business opportunities in line with management expectations, at the appropriate level of quality.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Dynamic, hands on professional with 10+ years of proven success driving Business Development/Sales activities preferably in the CMO industry.
  • Bachelor degree in life sciences, Business Administration or related field required.
  • Highly effective written, spoken and presentation-driven communications skills.
  • Ability to adjust communications style with ease to fit the audience and the message at hand.
  • Willing to travel to AGC Biologics sites globally and to client locations 50-70+% of the time.

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in Business Administration, or related health, life sciences or technical area preferred.
  • Deep network of contacts in the industry is a strong plus.

Compensation Range:
$164,400 – $226,050
