Reporting to the CEO & President, you will play a key role in shaping Powertech’s strategic direction and expanding our global presence as a trusted innovation partner providing solutions, specialized testing and technical expertise for a safe and sustainable energy future.
The successful candidate will support Powertech build upon its significant role in electrifying transportation systems: deploying EV chargers and manufacturing fueling infrastructure for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. This position is pivotal in driving business growth, fostering industry relationships, and elevate Powertech as a trusted partner in the electrical utility sector and among the original equipment manufacturers that serve it. As the Director of Business Development, Growth and Innovation, you will focus on identifying business opportunities and expanding our customer base. You will drive a team of dynamic marketing and business development professionals to implement marketing strategies, cultivate new business partnerships.
• Strategic Leadership & Market Expansion: Enhance and broaden Powertech’s marketing and business development strategies to elevate our market profile worldwide. The emphasis is to refine Powertech's branding, messaging, positioning, and communications.
• Identify & Pursue New Business opportunities: High emphasis on business growth within the electrical utility industry and on the emerging Hydrogen market. Proactively monitor market trends and identify new opportunities that will lead to increased revenue and strengthen our client relationships.
• Develop and Execute Marketing Strategies: Establish synergy with cross-functional teams to create impactful industry strategies that will generate sales leads and enhance Powertech’s competitive advantage. Lead the creation of marketing campaigns, materials, website structure and content, and social media engagement.
• Cross- Departmental Collaboration: Partner with internal client groups to ensure that Powertech’s services and products meet customers' demands and expectations.
• Customer Satisfaction & Forecasting: Develop long- term action plans for building customer satisfaction, including reporting and analysis based on customer feedback surveys. Manage sales forecasts and support the generation of forecast-related reports.
• Industry Relationships : Strengthen partnerships with key industry players, infrastructure operators, and explore joint venture opportunities to deliver Hydrogen projects to the transportation sector.
• Travel & Industry Engagement: Attend client sites, conferences, and industry events to promote Powertech’s services, generate leads, and represent the company at key industry forums. Expected travel of 1 week per month on average.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Science, or other related field. A post-graduate degree, such as a Master of Business Administration or other Masters’ program, is an asset.
- 10+ years of proven business development and marketing experience preferably in power industry (electrical utility industry and/or Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs)). Familiarity in the emerging Hydrogen market is an asset. Strong expertise in identifying profitable business opportunities and building client relationships in North America and internationally. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Senior-level leadership and management experience within large, complex environments: exemplary track record of leadership and emotional intelligence, with the ability to effectively lead, motivate, and manage a team of marketing and business development professionals based in different locations.
- Market Analysis and Negotiation Skills: Bold strategic thinking with sharp business acumen and entrepreneurial experience that will support your success in developing and implementing long-term growth strategies. Expertise in negotiating and closing business deals, managing proposals, and analyzing market trends, competitors and customer behaviour. Effective communication skills with the ability to engage internal/ external customers and stakeholders on a wide variety of strategic initiatives.
- CRM Expertise: Experience with CRM systems and their implementation to support business development initiatives.
- Industry Experience: Previous experience in engineering consulting or the energy sector is an asset.
- Persuasive and effective communication skills, with the ability to readily engage internal and external customers and stakeholders on a wide variety of strategic initiatives.
