The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director to oversee and manage our Marketplace/ 3P channels globally. Reporting to our VP of Growth, the ideal candidate will have a proven track record managing Amazon seller accounts and excels in developing and executing marketplace strategies to optimize performance. In this role, you will own the long term planning, execution, and optimization of Amazon & Marketplace performance for Caraway, including paid advertising, SEO, forecasting, reporting and analytics, business operations, review generation, listing and account management, and product detail page improvements. This role will push us in how we think about our business and analyze Amazon’s impact on it. Our team is hungry, fast-moving, dynamic, data-obsessed and constantly experimenting to truly understand what works. We are looking for someone who is ready to take a 9-figure brand to the next level of growth. You will be pivotal in helping Caraway become a generational brand with household level awareness. 


Who You Are: 
The ideal candidate has deep experience managing Amazon seller accounts and excels in developing and executing strategies to optimize performance. You have strong P&L expertise, a proactive mindset, and experience managing external Amazon agency relationships. You obsess over understanding the Amazon algorithm and optimizing organic performance leveraging keyword opportunities, reviews, competitive monitoring, pricing and promotion tactics, advertising, and third party tools. You are relentless in building review funnels and ensuring 4.3+ ratings on all products. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, are data-driven, and enjoy owning all aspects of the Amazon channel, from day-to-day operations to long-term growth planning. You have omni-channel experience with at least two other marketplaces (i.e. Walmart.com, Target.com, Wayfair.com, Costco.com etc). You have a keen eye for product and merchandising opportunities, and understand how to leverage Email, SMS, Influencers, Affiliate, Paid Advertising etc. to drive off platform traffic to grow Amazon sales. You thrive being the quarterback of marketplace channels directing a mighty cross functional team of creatives, marketing and logistics experts to bring our assortments to life in order to drive rapid and profitable growth on Amazon.

Responsibilities:

  • P&L ownership: Lead Caraway’s Amazon & Marketplace Channels and drive strong sustainable revenue and margin growth, defining core KPIs and growth targets
  • Marketing:  Own Caraway’s Amazon & Marketplace in-platform digital marketing strategies (PPC, DSP, Video, OTT) to drive revenue and brand growth, with an acute focus on organic ranking tactics and leveraging Caraway’s arsenal of assets (Email, SMS, Influencers, Affiliate, PR etc) to drive off platform traffic to the marketplace.
  • Listing Management: Coordinate product setup including production of copy, imagery, keywords, attributes, and other product data with internal and external teams, while ensuring we have the highest performing A+ content, galleries, product descriptions that optimize for keyword ranking.
  • Business Operations: Manage all Amazon & Marketplace related business operations including margin optimization, account health, and improving our customer service experience and seller rating.
  • Product Launches: Plan and execute high quality, on-time product launches on Amazon by effectively managing the end-to-end Amazon product launch process and coordinating cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Promotional Calendar: Develop and own promotional calendar (DOTD, Lightning deals, coupons) in partnership with marketing, finance, and ecommerce teams to drive revenue growth and organic ranking.
  • Demand Forecasting: Partner with Finance & Inventory Planners on Amazon demand forecasting, developing accurate scenarios in collaboration with other internal functions and iterating these as demand and supply conditions evolve.
  • Reporting and Analytics: Provide high quality reporting and analytics in conjunction with Caraway’s Data & Analytics team on key Amazon performance metrics, identify impactful insights, and convert these into material performance improvements and growth.
  • Relationship Management: Develop strong collaborative relationships with all relevant stakeholders including Caraway’s Amazon ad agency, Amazon contacts (e.g., CSMs), and other internal Caraway functions (Strategy, Marketing, Finance, Retail, Ops, etc.)
  • New Geographies & Marketplaces: Lead the charge in evaluating new channels and geographies to expand our marketplace growth.
  • Reviews Optimization: Develop and implement strategies to increase high-quality reviews and ratings, improve overall customer sentiment, and drive higher product trust. Actively monitor and engage with customer reviews, leveraging insights to enhance product performance and identifying trends or issues that can inform future product development and customer service improvements.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • 7+ years experience building, leading, and managing the Amazon and Marketplace channel for an eight figure+ Amazon business (plus if that includes globally)
  • Scrappy & tactical approach to Amazon organic ranking and review strategies
  • Strong experience in inventory management, merchandising, listing optimization margin management & pricing
  • Keen eye for new product development opportunities based on keyword research
  • A growth mindset with a desire to test new ideas to unlock new outside the box opportunities
  • Expertise with Amazon tools such as Helium10, Scope, Unicorn Smasher, SEMrush etc.
  • Proficiency with analytics tools such as Looker, Microsoft Excel, SQL or Tableau
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within and across departments
  • Highly detail oriented and a proactive problem-solver
  • Willing to roll up sleeves; no job is too small attitude

The anticipated base salary range for this role ​is $135,000 - $175,000 - Final compensation will depend on a variety of factors determining the base pay at offer, including but not limited to: skills, qualifications, experience. This range provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.
