Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('SpinCo') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description
The Director, AI Strategy & Innovation will play a pivotal role in driving the success of AI-based initiatives and innovation within the company. This role is responsible for driving thought-leadership on market trends, identifying and sizing commercial opportunities, performing long-range planning, and leading projects and programs to support the AI and innovation strategies across Comcast NBCUniversal. You will collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to shape and execute strategic initiatives that align with the company's long-term vision and business goals.
Responsibilities:

  • Research, Partnerships & Market Intelligence:
    • Conduct research and analysis on the latest AI trends, emerging technologies, and industry shifts.
    • Provide actionable insights and thought-leadership on how these trends impact the media, entertainment, and technology sectors, helping shape the company's AI strategy and future innovation needs.
    • Support partnership initiatives, including alignment with other Comcast business units, where applicable.
  • Competitor Analysis:
    • Lead competitive intelligence efforts by tracking the innovations of existing and emerging players in the media, entertainment, and tech industries.
    • Provide insights into opportunities and threats, and help refine the company's AI & innovation strategy and associated long range plan.
  • Strategic Planning, Transformation & Business Case Development:
    • Contribute to the development of business cases for new innovation initiatives and AI-enabled transformation, including market analysis, financial modeling, and risk assessments.
    • Present findings and recommendations to senior management and assist in prioritizing and communicating the value of AI-driven and other innovation projects.
    • Establish and support the tracking of KPIs underpinning these initiatives.
  • Governance and Ways of Working:
    • Support the development of new governance processes, policies and employee guidelines.
    • Devise approaches for the integration of AI and future innovative technologies back into NBCUniversal's core products and technology platforms.
  • Organizational Readiness & Alignment:
    • Support the ongoing process of technological innovation and re-integration into the core business, including through driving engagement, education and awareness across the organization.
    • Ensure relevant leadership from across the organization is consulted, aware and bought-in to our central AI & innovation strategies


Qualifications
Basic Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of experience in a strategic or commercial role within AI, technology, media, or a related industry
  • Market Intelligence Expertise:
    • Proven track record in conducting market research, competitor analysis, and identifying and sizing commercial opportunities within the tech or media industries.
  • AI Knowledge:
    • Strong understanding of AI technologies, trends, and their application in commercial contexts.
    • Ability to translate complex AI concepts into actionable business strategies.
  • Leadership & Collaboration:
    • Experience working cross-functionally with senior executives, technical teams, and business development teams to drive strategy and execution.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
  • Commercial, Analytical & Strategic Thinking:
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex data and market trends into clear, actionable insights.
    • Ability to develop and present compelling business cases and strategic recommendations, grounded in commercial and operational reality


Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience working in large-scale media or entertainment companies, particularly those leveraging AI for innovation and digital transformation.
  • Understanding of the media landscape, consumer behavior, and technology adoption within the entertainment industry.
  • Familiarity with AI applications in media content creation, audience engagement, personalization, and data analytics.
  • Experience in AI commercialization, product development, or business strategy


Additional Requirements:

  • Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.


This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
