About the Role: The Director of Accounting Operations will oversee the successful delivery of recurring accounting services and the seamless onboarding of new customers into our ecosystem. This role is pivotal in ensuring operational excellence, maintaining high standards of accuracy and timeliness, and leading a team of accountants to achieve organizational goals. The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader with a strong background in accounting operations, a commitment to process improvement, and a passion for customer success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounting Operations Management:
- Ensure all recurring accounting tasks, including bookkeeping, financial reporting, reconciliations, and payroll processing, are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Develop, implement, and refine workflows and processes to optimize efficiency and maintain consistency in service delivery.
- Monitor and enforce quality standards to deliver exceptional customer outcomes.
- Customer Onboarding:
- Oversee the onboarding process for new customers, ensuring a smooth transition into our systems and processes.
- Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to understand customer needs and tailor onboarding experiences.
- Establish and document clear accounting processes for each customer to ensure long-term success.
- Team Leadership:
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of accountants, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
- Provide ongoing coaching, support, and professional development opportunities to team members.
- Conduct performance reviews and implement strategies to meet or exceed team KPIs.
- Process Improvement and Technology:
- Identify opportunities to leverage technology and automation tools to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices, incorporating innovative approaches into operational workflows.
- Customer Relationship Management:
- Serve as a point of escalation for complex customer issues, ensuring timely and satisfactory resolution.
- Build strong relationships with customers by demonstrating expertise, reliability, and a customer-centric approach.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of managing accounting operations in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and relevant software (e.g., QuickBooks, Restaurant 365, Intacct, Xero, or other cloud-based systems).
- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in using technology to streamline accounting processes and improve customer outcomes.
