As a member of our global Finance team, you will be faced with new challenges that will continuously leave you looking for ways to add value to the department and the firm. The primary responsibilities of the Digital Assets Accounting Manager are to maintain and optimize the accounting processes and systems related to cryptocurrency transactions and to play an active role in cross department initiatives that support our Crypto business activities. This is a newly created role to ensure our accounting support model aligns with the growth of our Crypto business. The candidate should have a combination of both traditional accounting expertise and an understanding of and expressed interest in cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.

This role is based out of our Chicago office with an expectation to work in the office a portion of each week. This role will manage a team focused on our digital asset businesses, including trading activities and venture capital digital asset investments.

What You'll Do:

  • Track all crypto asset transactions, including purchases, sales, transfers, loans, and token deals, and ensure proper recording in the general ledger
  • Determine the fair market value of crypto assets at each reporting period, considering relevant pricing data and market activity
  • Develop, implement and maintain robust processes and controls for associated crypto asset transactions and balances
  • Stay updated on evolving regulations surrounding crypto assets and interpret and apply accounting standards to complex crypto asset transactions
  • Assist with external financial audits and prepare supporting schedules for tax returns
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure the accuracy of financial data and processes
  • Interpret digital asset deal documents to ensure proper accounting treatment and tracking of the assets through the entirety of the agreements
  • Identify automation opportunities within the accounting function and work with the Finance Transformation and Engineering teams to streamline processes
  • Ensure timely, accurate completion of related special project/analysis work and other ad hoc tasks as requested of other senior members of finance
  • Other duties as assigned or needed

Skills You’ll Need:

  • Bachelors' Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification preferred
  • At least 7 years of experience in accounting, including experience within the crypto sector
  • Experience working with high-volume transactions and reconciliation processes
  • Knowledge of SQL and blockchain technology is a plus
  • Entrepreneurial mindset that is excited to build out an accounting framework for a new industry
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset to identify and resolve complex accounting issues relates to crypto assets
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and excellent communication skills
  • Kind, resourceful, self-sufficient, collaborative and able to build and sustain relationships with colleagues
  • Reliable and predictable availability

Annual Base Salary Range

$150,000$185,000 USD
