You love learning from others, as well as helping them out. You are a team player, direct and open-minded. You strive to deliver, have high work standards and are a responsible individual.

What You’ll Do

You will be the owner of security within the DevOps team and act as a liaison between the DevOps and the Security team.

Your responsibilities will include topics such as:

  • Implementing zero trust and least-privilege access policies for workloads

You will infuse a security-first mindset in the day-to-day DevOps work as well as the long-term DevOps decisions and planning.

On top of that, you will contribute to the workload of the DevOps team, which includes a fusion of DevOps, Site Reliability and Platform engineering tasks:

  • Own the onboarding process of services to production infrastructure

  • Strive for high uptime and swift incident resolution for live services, with an increased focus on security incidents

  • Operate scalable Kubernetes clusters and several in-house platform offerings

  • Collaborate closely with other teams to drive bug identification and resolution, as well as advocate for the adoption of production-ready practices

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field

  • Familiarity with the web3 threat landscape, with the ability to develop threat models, recommend solutions and articulate security trade-offs when designing controls

  • Experience with designing infrastructure and service security pipelines using cloud security tools (e.g. SIEM, CSPM/CWPP), as well as identifying infrastructure security vulnerabilities

  • Experience with securing critical credential/cryptographic key management (e.g., foundation fund management, air-gapped environments, TEE, HSM)

  • Experience in operating containerised web application systems on Kubernetes (web-3 native systems are a plus)

  • 2+ years of experience in operating secure Cosmos SDK and Bitcoin infrastructure (additional blockchain ecosystems are a plus)

  • Top-3 cloud management experience (AWS preferred)

  • Proficiency in Linux management and scripting

  • Experience in operating open-source observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki)

  • Familiarity with Cloudflare and GitHub security

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and respond swiftly to incidents

  • Fluent oral and written communication in English

What We Do

At Babylon, we envision a future where Bitcoin and Proof-of-Stake (PoS) chains thrive together. Our mission is to build a Bitcoin-driven decentralized world by evolving Bitcoin into a trusted security backbone for PoS chains, delivering yields for bitcoin holders while fostering an integrated, secure, and decentralized economy.

We trace our genesis to a transformative research paper on Bitcoin security, an original work co-authored by our co-founders, David Tse and Fisher Yu, the founder of EigenLayer, Sreeram Kannan and co-authors. Their combined intellect and foresight have set the cornerstone of Babylon.

In a testament to our dedication to advancing the field, our research paper has been accepted by the highly-respected 2023 IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy - a significant global platform for security discourse.

The project is led by a team of consensus protocol researchers from Stanford and experienced layer 1 engineers from around the world. Babylon’s mission is to scale Bitcoin to secure the decentralized world. To achieve this, Babylon utilizes the three primary facets of Bitcoin: Bitcoin as an asset, its reliable timestamping service, its most censorship-resistant blockspace in the world. To leverage these facets, Babylon is developing three innovative security-sharing protocols: Bitcoin Staking Protocol, Bitcoin Timestamping Protocol, and Bitcoin Data Availability Protocol. Through these pioneering protocols, Babylon envisions a more secure and decentralized future
