GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The DevOps Engineer is responsible for managing and enhancing the build and release systems for both internal resources and AWS environments. This role focuses on the development, optimization, and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines within Azure DevOps, ensuring smooth deployments to both on-premises and cloud-based infrastructures. The DevOps Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to oversee company-wide release scheduling and coordination, drive system improvements, and ensure ongoing maintenance of DevOps infrastructure.

***This position is located in West Des Moines, Iowa and will be required to be onsite at least 2-3 days/week***
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with development and platform engineering teams to create and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
- Work with cross-functional teams to design and implement new pipelines for upcoming projects.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for service-impacting issues, capable of troubleshooting and resolving problems efficiently.
- Develop and maintain DevSecOps strategies, including automated infrastructure deployment and the creation of DevSecOps pipelines.
- Manage service connections, permissions, and service accounts within the DevOps environment.
- Lead the Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings, making decisions on release approvals and addressing questions related to releases.
- Handle manual release processes when needed.
- Ensure code is tested for security vulnerabilities and bugs during the build process.
- Stay up to date with trends and developments in the DevOps field.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Occasional travel is required, at least once per year.
- Participate in an on-call rotation, available 24/7 during on-call periods.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business administration, or a related field, plus 5 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 3 years of experience with Azure DevOps and AWS platforms.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD best practices and tools.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONS (Preferred):
- Fundamental - AWS Cloud Practitioner
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Proficient in infrastructure as code, build and release tooling, and automated server deployments, with a solid understanding of DevSecOps tools.
- Strong background in automated deployment pipelines and Git repositories.
- Familiarity with Terraform, PowerShell, Bash, AWS, Azure, Windows, and Linux environments.
- Excellent analytical, research, customer service, and communication skills.
- Ability to interpret technical documents, business reports, and regulatory requirements.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and work effectively with others.
- Self-motivated with the ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines in a dynamic work setting.

- A background in programming, particularly if you have worked as a software engineer for several years. Be sure to highlight this experience on your resume.
