DevOps Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Design, deploy, and manage AWS services (ECR, EKS, EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, VPC), focusing on scalability, security, and performance.
• Develop and maintain Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipelines, focusing on automating the deployment of Ruby applications using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
• Work closely with development teams to support the deployment and scaling of Ruby on Rails applications in AWS environments.
• Implement robust monitoring and observability solutions using AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and third-party tools like NewRelic, Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana to track system health, application performance, and SLAs.
• Set up actionable alerts to detect anomalies and proactively address issues before they impact system performance.
• Implement log aggregation and analysis using tools such as the ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) or AWS CloudWatch Logs to ensure detailed insights into application behavior.
• Implement and enforce security best practices within AWS (IAM policies, security groups, encryption) to ensure the safety of data and systems.
• Experience with implementing and maintaining infrastructure compliant with SOC 2 Type I/II requirements. Knowledge of SOC 2 principles, including security, availability, and confidentiality, and how to enforce these principles in cloud environments.
• Write automation scripts using Ruby or Bash to simplify tasks such as server provisioning, backups, and system updates.
• Monitor and optimize AWS resource usage to reduce costs while maintaining performance and reliability.

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar role, with a strong focus on AWS and Ruby.
• Hands-on experience managing a variety of AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, etc.) and knowledge of best practices for security, scaling, and cost optimization.
• Familiarity with deploying and managing Ruby on Rails applications, including performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with automation tools like Terraform or CloudFormation for managing AWS infrastructure.
• Proficiency in building and managing CI/CD pipelines, especially for Ruby applications, using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
• Experience with Docker and orchestrating containers in AWS (ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with AWS monitoring services like CloudWatch and third-party tools (New Relic, Datadog, Prometheus) to ensure system reliability.
• Strong scripting abilities in Ruby, GoLang, Bash, or similar languages for automation and task simplification.
• Proficient in using Git for managing code repositories, branching strategies, and deployments.
• Understanding of AWS security tools and practices, including IAM, VPC, and key management services (KMS).
