As a Development Group Leader based in Clayton, Victoria, you will report to the Architectural Technical Manager. You will lead, coordinate, and implement all development projects in the ANZ Architectural Coatings businesses. You will also ensure that the appropriate regulatory requirements for the Architectural product families are met and maintained following the relevant market and national standards.

Responsibilities
- Manage the ANZ Architectural development group to develop coating technology in a time frame consistent with customer goals to achieve the growth targets for the business and strategic initiatives.
- Manage and coordinate internal and external customer communication for long-term coating development projects.
- Manage product compliance and regulatory accountabilities following relevant market and national standards.
- Execute Raw Material qualifications to meet the needs of the businesses for cost efficiency and supply security.
- Identify laboratory equipment that is required to support new customer technologies/ processes.
- In collaboration with the Technical Customer Support group, provide provision of technical support to major customers for key products by coordinating resources during the launch of new technology.
- Coordinate 3rd party testing and global accreditations related to performance and sustainability.
- Manage the recruitment, development, and motivation of direct reporting staff.
- Ensure all new technology developments meet statutory and EHS requirements and that all work group activities are conducted in a safe manner by conforming to PPG policy requirements and Technical Support safety policies.
- Ensure that all new products and processes are introduced following the ISO 9001 Quality System by complying with defined quality procedures and Work Instructions.
Requirements
- Postgraduate degree in chemistry with an interest in polymers and processes.
- Minimum 5 years of practical experience within the industry.
- In-depth knowledge of coating technology formulation.
- Process expert knowledge, including existing and potential new applications and curing processes
- Ability to innovate and identify novel approaches to meet new ‘leading edge’ customer requirements.
- Experience leading a team and project planning.
