We're seeking a dedicated Community Manager to be the daily voice and presence of a Discord developer community. In this role, you'll maintain active engagement through consistent communication (~50 messages daily), provide timely support, and ensure smooth channel operations. Your primary focus will be routing technical questions, welcoming new members, moderating discussions, and cross-posting key announcements—all while maintaining a 24-hour response time standard.


The ideal candidate brings 2+ years of community management experience, strong written communication skills, and basic technical understanding of AR/VR/XR concepts. Experience with Discord moderation and developer communities is essential, while familiarity with tools like Lens Studio or Camera Kit is a plus. Success in this role means maintaining consistent engagement, efficient support routing, and high user satisfaction while dedicating 60% of time to active community engagement, 20% to technical support routing, and 20% to channel maintenance and announcements.


This freelance opportunity is from 12/2-1/31 at 40 hours/week (Instrument is closed 12/23-1/1)


What You'll Do

  • Maintain a consistent daily presence in the community, engaging with approximately 50 messages per day.
  • Respond to community queries within 24 hours.
  • Welcome and guide new members to ensure a positive onboarding experience.
  • Route technical questions to the appropriate channels for resolution.
  • Monitor and moderate discussions to maintain a respectful and productive environment.
  • Cross-post key announcements to keep members informed.
  • Monitor existing channels to ensure proper organization and functionality.
  • Implement basic spam defense measures to maintain channel integrity.
  • Maintain channel organization and ensure messages are routed correctly.
  • Update pinned resources as needed to keep information accessible and current.
  • Maintain and update FAQs and other community resources.
  • Document support trends to identify recurring issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Track engagement metrics to measure community activity and growth.
  • Support basic community initiatives to enhance member engagement and satisfaction.

Pay Range

  • The expected pay range for this role is $65-84 per hour
  • Our company has three regional pay bands that it adheres to depending on your location, we reference them as US 1, US 2, and US 3.
  • US 3 is our base pay. Examples of cities in US 3 are Portland, Houston and Miami.
  • US 2 pay is 7.5% higher than US 3 to meet the market rates. Examples of cities in US 2 are Los Angeles, Chicago and Seattle.
  • US 1 pay is 15% higher than US 3 to meet market rates. Examples of cities in US 1 are ​​Brooklyn and San Francisco.
