Desktop Engineer

Position Overview 

The Technology team at SFM is seeking a Desktop Engineer to lead and optimize end-user computing environments. This role is critical in ensuring seamless desktop experiences through effective system management, automation, and the latest technology deployment.  

The ideal candidate will be well-versed in modern desktop management technologies, automation tools, and enterprise-level support. 

Applicants should have knowledge with public cloud environments and the M365 suite.

Major Responsibilities 

• Lead the deployment and maintenance of Windows 11 across all corporate desktops and laptops. 

• Administer and optimize PDQ Deploy and PDQ Inventory for software deployment and patch management. 

• Automate repetitive desktop management tasks using PowerShell or equivalent tools. 

• Develop and maintain Group Policies, Intune policies, and other desktop configurations. 

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues related to end-user devices. 

• Partner with the Security team to implement and maintain endpoint protection solutions. 

• Manage asset lifecycle, including procurement, deployment, and retirement of hardware. 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement desktop engineering projects and initiatives. 

• Document processes, solutions, and system configurations to maintain operational standards. 

Requirements 

• 3-5 years of experience in desktop engineering or equivalent roles. 

• Strong expertise in Windows 11 deployment and lifecycle management. 

• Proficiency in using PDQ Deploy and PDQ Inventory. 

• Experience with scripting and automation, particularly using PowerShell. 

• Familiarity with endpoint management solutions such as Microsoft Intune, SCCM and PDQ. 

• Knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy. 

• Understanding of modern endpoint security tools and practices. 

• Exceptional problem-solving and communication skills, with a strong focus on user satisfaction. 

What We Offer  

• We anticipate the base salary of this role to be between $150,000-175,000. In addition to a base salary, the successful candidate will also be eligible to receive a discretionary year-end bonus.
