Desktop Engineer

Weiss Asset Management (WAM), a Boston-based investment firm, is seeking a highly reliable and detail-oriented Desktop Engineer to join our growing IT team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in installing, configuring, and maintaining PCs, as well as network-based hardware and software. Additionally, they should have experience working with Windows-based file servers, virtual machines, and network cabling. Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.

5+ years of experience in a desktop support or engineering role is required.

Responsibilities:

• Configure, deploy, and maintain desktop systems and applications. Ensure systems are up-to-date with the latest patches, updates, and security fixes.

• Provide advanced support for desktop issues, including hardware, software, and operating system problems. Resolve complex issues and escalate as necessary.

• Provide technical support for end-users, addressing issues related to, applications, and connectivity.

• Ensure the security and compliance of desktop environments, including data protection, access controls, and adherence to industry regulations.

• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for configurations, processes, and procedures. Provide regular reports on system performance and issues.

• Collaborate with the internal technology team and external vendors to ensure the seamless integration of solutions within the overall IT infrastructure.

• Develop and deliver training sessions for end-users and IT staff on desktop tools and best practices.

• Provides basic computer orientation to new and existing Company employees.
