It's an exciting time of growth for IFF, we’re inviting dedicated and passionate individual to join us as Designer, Bakery Bars & Confectionery in our Singapore Nourish Taste Division. The role will be directly reporting to Design Manager Culinary, Snacks & BBC.

Your Focus

As Designer, BBC you focus on reactive-/proactive customer projects and work closely in collaboration with the commercial counterparts and work closely with a team of flavorists. You will develop business knowledge & technical skills to become a Designer professional.

How you will contribute

Solution design

  • Hands on application of sweet / savory flavors to a wide range of bakery & confectionery products.
  • Technical partner for strategic and global customer.
  • Works closely together with different disciplines especially the creative, product experience team and account managers
  • Provide guidance to junior staff to help increase win rate and upgrade their skill when necessary.
  • Working closely with Key Customers to provide a technical service and support, including product presentations, flavour recommendations, problem solving.
  • Working closely with account managers to provide our local and global customers with technical information on our flavor - including new concept presentations as well as specific reactive customer briefs.
  • Working with the Creation & Applications teams on specific projects.
  • Dealing directly with customer requests and questions.
  • Create, continuously renovate, and maintain recipes/formulations and processing reports for prototypes.
  • Work and navigate independently through work tasks and projects.
  • Ensure developments are in compliance with the regulatory, religious and customer requirements (GRA legislation, CIU, etc.)
  • Ensure that the laboratory is kept in a safe, clean, good maintenance, hygienic work condition always and adhere to IFF EHS policies.
  • Always maintain a good stock of raw materials and consumable items in the lab.
  • Contributes to internal trainings and workshops.
  • Able to work in as team player and collaborator.
  • Handle bakery & confectionery related applications within tight timelines.
  • Maintains and continuously renovate the IFF recipe database.
  • Update the flavor bank collection.

Innovation & New Technology

  • Anticipates, investigates, and resolves problems related to finished prototypes with flavor and support initiate scale-up procedures with customer when necessary.
  • Ensure using new raw materials, advancing technology, and utilizing IFF technology.
  • Contributes to category initiatives.
  • Liaise with the creation team (flavorists) to use latest and approved IFF materials in application to offer IFF’s proprietary advantage.
  • Demonstrated creativity and an innovative mindset.

Customer Intimacy & Technical Partnership

  • Understands and communicates customer business strategy, brands, market preferences and trends.
  • Acts and behaves as a strong partner and collaborator to all relevant functions in the business.
  • Actively engages with clients to develop end solutions includes researches, refines, and upgrades solutions for client projects.
  • Ability to present in-front of customer.

What you will need to be successful

  • Tertiary qualifications in Food Science and Technology or related disciplines (such as Bakery Science, food nutrition)
  • Minimal 8 - 10 years of relevant experiences in the bakery & confectionary and flavor industry, handling flavors and ingredients with focus on baked goods, confectionery & chewing gum. Knowledge of food manufactures, craft bakery, chocolate, cereal coating experience.
  • Demonstrated capability in experimental design, detailed results analysis, and sound technical judgement.
  • Open and innovative mindset.
  • Sound knowledge in project task and time management.
  • Good team player, embraces diversity, ability to work under pressure, be curious.
