Job Responsibilities

  • Report to Waltonen Engineering Manager
  • Supervise Designers, Detailers, and Checkers
  • Delegate tasks effectively to the team members, ensuring efficient workflow and timely completion of projects
  • Engage in daily customer interactions and deliver technical presentations to groups
  • Regularly use CAD design software (Creo) to contribute to project designs for the Defense Industry
  • Ensure that designs are cohesive, meet quality standards, and align with project requirements
  • Work closely with engineers to integrate design and technical requirements
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior designers and detailers, fostering their professional growth and helping them develop their skills in the field
  • Onsite Creo training will be provided to candidates without previous experience

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years experience in a Design Lead or PM role
  • Strong background in using Creo software for design purposes
  • Experience in the automotive, defense, or aerospace industry
  • Experience utilizing a 3D sketch-based CAD software as a designer
  • Ability to work under deadlines is essential for success in this position
  • Excellent communication skills with customers, peers, and subordinates are critical
  • Strong multitasking and prioritization abilities are also essential
  • Must be a team player with strong collaborative skills
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed, with the ability to adapt to fluctuating workloads
  • Availability to work between 40 to 60 hours per week based on project demands
  • Must be willing to work remotely on Saturdays on an as-needed basis to meet customer demands

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in Vehicle Design, Product Development, or a related degree
  • Familiarity with Teamcenter or Vismockup is a plus
  • Vehicle Component Mechanical Design
  • Design experience using NX
