STV is seeking a passionate and experienced Design Director to support our Outreach & Engagement Strategies team at our Toronto, CA office. Directly collaborating with the Creative Director, this role assists in leading creative components of project delivery across a wide range of clients, industries, and mediums. Responsible for providing project-level design direction for a growing team of talented art directors, graphic designers, and creatives, the Design Director will provide mentorship and industry guidance, while supporting the development and delivery of best-in-class practices for our Creative Division. We are looking for an experienced creative leader, who can mentor and inspire the Creative Division to take our work to the next level. The ideal candidate inherently drives creative excellence, reinforcing STV’s reputation of expertise in the architecture and engineering industries.
Project Support:

Provide strategic, creative solutions to project communications challenges.

Serve as the central coordination point between program leadership, project managers, subject matter experts, and our Creative Division to set project goals, deadlines, and creative strategies.

Communicate project objectives and key messages, translating complex technical information into compelling visual narratives for communication to diverse audiences.

Develop and provide strategic guidance in the creation of high-level creative concepts to engage with the public in an equitable and accessible manner.

Steer projects through conceptualization, development, and execution, with a focus on effectively supporting project goals and objectives in an innovative and engaging manner.

Ensure consistency and integrity of project and client brand assets across relevant communication channels and materials.

Develop and implement creative strategies aligned with project objectives, ensuring that communication efforts effectively support project goals and overall brand positioning.

Oversee the creation of a wide range of creative assets, including branding, marketing, advertising, digital media, public relations, and communications materials.
Creative Division Leadership:

Support the fostering of a collaborative and inclusive team environment, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities to team members.

Encourage the Outreach & Engagement Strategies’ Creative team to deliver best-in-class work through the integration of innovative approaches into established best practices and design standards.

Coordinate with external creative agents, i.e., photographers, printers, freelancers, web developers, etc. in support of project tasks and initiatives.

In close coordination with the Creative Director, supervise all work completed by the creative team, including review and quality control.

In collaboration with the Creative Director, work to establish and guide creative strategy for a wide variety of projects and clients.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communications, or the equivalent.

15+ years of relevant professional experience.

Robust design portfolio demonstrating ability to work across a wide variety of styles and mediums.

Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud and Figma.

Ability to lead and manage the creative process from inception to delivery.

Willingness to execute and deliver project work in support of a new and growing Creative Division.

Experience leading creative teams.

Ability to communicate effectively with leadership, project managers, clients, and technical experts.

Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.

While not required, architecture, engineering, or related industry experience is a significant plus.

While not required, agency experience is a plus.
Compensation Range:
$186,356.00 - $248,475.00
