Role Overview

The Design Assistant will be responsible for working closely with the Design team to ensure a successful design process. The ideal candidate would be someone with experience working with or specializing in sleepwear/loungewear experience.

Responsibilities

• Update sketches, line sheets, catalogs and concept boards in a timely and accurate manner
• Provide technical drawings and CADs to communicate design concepts, including multiple views and detailed sketches as necessary
• Provide support on the initial development
• Initiate sample requests and maintain communication with vendors throughout the entire development process
• Follow-up on proto requests
• Attend recap meetings to document updates and execute changes to tech packs and catalogs
• Attend proto fit sessions and collaborate with the Design team to review samples
• Support and collaborate with the Design team to ensure that deadlines are met
• General coordination and assistance for the Design team – organizing submissions, photocopying, assembling boards, updating sketches and documents as needed
• Manage the tracking, cataloging, and organization of samples to ensure they are prepared for buyer meetings.
• Perform other job duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design or related field
• Strong internship experience and/or 1 year of relevant corporate experience preferred
• Experience using Mac, Excel, Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator (PLM experience is a plus but not required)
• Experience flat sketching by hand and in Illustrator
• Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
• Strong understanding of fashion trends and women’s cut and sew
• Knowledge of fabric and trims
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced, on-site, environment
• Adjust to changing demands and effectively shift between priorities.
• Eager can-do attitude and team player

This a hybrid role, with 4 days in our NYC office 

PAY RATE: $25.00/hr - $27.00/hr
