Position Scope:

Accountable to the Director, Supply Chain, the Demand Planning Analyst is responsible for ensuring and manage all forecasting activities for Scotts Canada. This will include collaboration with Planning, Sales, Marketing, Brand teams and Supply Planning to ensure that all production requirements are met, and that any delays or constraints are communicated, as well as overseeing forecast analysis and inventory information.

The Demand Planning Analyst participates as an integral member of the Supply Planning team and performs duties in accordance with the mandate and priorities of Scotts Canada Ltd.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Director, Supply Chain, the Demand Planning Analyst is responsible for ensuring and manage all forecasting activities for Scotts Canada. This will include collaboration with Planning, Sales, Marketing, Brand teams and Supply Planning to ensure that all production requirements are met, and that any delays or constraints are communicated, as well as overseeing and updating forecast analysis and inventory information in a timely manner. Liaise with various stakeholders including key retailers.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Utilize forecasting tools to develop and maintain operational forecasts which align with financial forecasts.

  • Collaborate with multiple teams (Sales, Supply Planning, and Brand) to understand and analyze key business drivers for all product categories.

  • Review item-level sales and forecast consumption to identify the root cause(s) and provide corrective action options or solutions.

  • Update and maintain all forecast documents monthly cadence.

  • Weekly/Monthly meetings with key stakeholders and retailers to discuss forecast adjustments and concerns.

  • Monthly review of forecast variances period over period. When significant variances exist ensure ‘callouts’/communication are made to ensure an understanding of demand implications.

  • Analyze forecasts provided by retailers and integrate with internal plans.

  • Reviewing consumption trends and discussing go forward strategies with supply planning team.

  • Conduct analysis to ensure the reliability, accuracy, of demand and production with Supply Chain. 

  • Participate and co-chair weekly S & OP meetings.

  • Create and maintain yearly budget files.

  • Carry out any additional duties as assigned.

Requisite Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Business or Supply Chain, or equivalent work experience;

  • Three years Supply Chain Planning & Replenishment experience in high seasonal and/or C.P.G. (Consumer Products Goods) manufacturing environment is strongly preferred;

  • Solid understanding of material planning, inventory management, and replenishment process;

  • Proficient with MS Office applications and systems, experience using SAP, and other planning systems, an asset;

  • Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills, the ability to work effectively on a team and with a wide range of individuals (Diplomacy, tact and decision-making ability);

  • Ability to organize and prioritize essential tasks to achieve results;

  • Ability to communicate in French and English an asset; 

  • Have a strong work ethic, always consider the Company’s best interest before making a decision;

  • Have a customer-oriented approach.
