We are looking for a proficient Demand Planner to join our team. The Demand Planner works closely with National, Business Areas and Business Unit Merchandising and Operational Leaders in addition to Vendors to enable effective product demand forecasts. This position demonstrates the ability to properly plan for shifts in consumer purchasing, while optimizing product inventory levels. The Demand Planner will manage product forecasting in Relex (inventory planning system), interfacing with Merchandising and Vendors for their assigned area of business, ensuring proper planning for item introductions, promotions, item discontinuation, and more.

What You Will Do

  • Sets targets and achieves inventory productivity plans to support sales, gross margin, and in-stock objectives.​ 
  • Supports internal teams in seasonal, annual, and long-range strategic product demand planning with support from Operational Leaders, Merchandising and Vendors.  
  • Support Merchandising with future and post-mortem insights on item forecasts to inform vendor discussions, negotiations, and internal processes (e.g., promotional decisions). 
  • Supports internal teams in various strategic product demand planning meetings (e.g., weekly vendor meetings, vendor business reviews, internal inventory planning sessions, etc.).​ 
  • Uses analytics to advise and influence internal teams on product demand planning decisions, clearly articulating the cause-effect of actions.​ 
  • Executes and measures product demand planning performance against category plans for timely decision-making.​ 
  • Investigate item issues related to master data accuracy. 
  • Learn and Leverage Power BI, Relex and PDI Focal Point reporting to benchmark and improve KPI performance. 
  • Train Operation and select Merchandising team members on how to use and leverage Relex for product forecasting in addition to providing troubleshooting support.  
  • Investigate systemic Days on Hand and Stockout issues and make recommendations of change to better facilitate the goal of being in stock with the correct quantity of product at the correct time.  
  • Review and adjust halo and cannibalization relationships in support of establishment of new products.  
  • Review and adjust item forecasts for new item setup and everyday item forecasts. 
  • Generate allocation scenarios in Relex inventory management system to determine appropriate distribution of liquidated products.  
  • Provide analytical support and guidance on potential item discontinuation opportunities. 
  • Execute special event product forecasting to address demand change related to holidays, sporting events, fairs & festivals, etc.  
  • Work with Lead Demand Planner and other members of Inventory Planning Leadership as well as Relex to make enhancements to the Demand Planning/Ordering Tool and associated reporting.  
  • Look for opportunities to improve product demand planning management process, performance, and accuracy. 
  • Other duties as assigned or deemed necessary.  
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reading professional publications, establishing personal networks; or participating in professional societies.  
  • Contributes to team success by achieving determined Financial and Key Result Area targets pursuant to Company Plan guidelines.  

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field is preferred. Other combinations of job-related experience and education that meet the requirements may be substituted.  
  • Three to five years of experience in inventory or demand planning is preferred.   
  • Must be able to travel locally as needed, up to 10% travel.  
  • Must possess a Driver’s License and the ability to drive to multiple store locations.  
  • Proven track record in setting and achieving inventory short, medium and long-range inventory plans.​ 
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in inventory management software and tools (e.g., PDI, Relex).​ 
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and other data analysis tools; experience with visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.​ 
  • Exceptional ability to communicate complex analytics in a clear, actionable manner to influence decision-making.​ 
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external vendors.​ 
  • Skilled in monitoring and measuring inventory demand planning performance against goals, with the ability to provide insights and make timely adjustments.​ 
  • Results-driven mindset with the ability to balance strategic planning and tactical execution.
