Job Description
The Red Gate Group is seeking an experienced Defense Business Systems (DBS) Policy Expert - SME to support the Acquisition Policy & Innovation (API) Directorate under the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (USD(A&S)). API leads the Department of Defense’s efforts to develop innovative acquisition policies and practices that optimize decision-making and deliver $2 trillion in warfighting capabilities across multiple acquisition pathways.
As a DBS Policy Expert, you will provide critical expertise to shape and refine acquisition policies for defense business systems and IT infrastructure, ensuring DoD business processes align with cutting-edge commercial practices. Your work will enhance efficiency, reduce risk, and maximize the value of commercial solutions, directly contributing to the DoD’s mission readiness and operational success.
Key Responsibilities
- Policy Development: Drive the development and integration of DBS acquisition policies, ensuring alignment with Chief Information Officer initiatives and best practices in IT infrastructure management.
- Program Support: Assess and provide recommendations on cost, schedule, performance, risk, and supportability for DBS systems to guide acquisition decisions and governance.
- Process Improvement: Analyze business environments and processes, recommending commercial or government solutions to improve efficiency, reduce IT customization, and mitigate risks.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate across DoD organizations, agencies, and services to support API equities, prepare Congressional responses, and address IG and GAO audit documentation.
- Tool Management: Manage data requirements and support enhancements to critical DoD IT systems, including DITIP, DITPR, and SNaP-IT.
- Communication: Deliver professional briefings and reports to high-level stakeholders, including Flag Officers, General Officers, and Senior Executive Service members.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Experience:
- Active DoD Secret Clearance
- Recognized industry authority providing expert consultation and advisory services, with proven ability to deliver high-ROI technical solutions
- Requires extensive technical expertise and demonstrable experience leading complex programmatic initiatives
- 7+ years in relevant fields with a master’s degree.
- Expertise in business systems analysis, acquisition policy development, and functional requirements analysis.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office tools and delivering high-level briefings.
Desired Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience developing DoD acquisition policies, guides, or instructions.
- 10+ years in business systems or process analysis.
- 5+ years of experience supporting Headquarters-level DoD organizations, including Agencies, Joint Staff, or Combatant Commands.
