The primary responsibility of this position is to drive top-line revenue growth for Werner Enterprises by identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

- Focus on new business development/hunting efforts. Successfully lead the pursuit of new business while focusing on new sales contracts.
- Discover and pursue new leads, relationships, and business opportunities with new companies (outside of the existing Werner portfolio) through structured prospecting, networking and referrals.
- Utilize team selling model to collaborate with Account Executive and Account Management teams to grow specialized sales channels with existing Werner relationships.
- Champion key RFPs and customer pricing requests that are submitted by Account Executives within the assigned Specialist territories, including helping to define commercial strategy and solution for the client.
- Maintain commercial data integrity in CRM tool Salesforce, to be reviewed by Sales and Operations Management. This includes opportunities at various stages of the sales funnel.
- Communicate directly with Sales and Operations regarding upcoming customer visits and scheduled travel plans.
- Act as a “Transportation Thought Leader” by staying well-informed on industry news and ensuring clients are up to speed on the transportation and logistics environment, regulatory changes and their impacts.
- Attend transportation/logistics conferences as needed to provide valuable insights and connections to lead effectively in the transportation landscape. Publicly represent Werner and the Werner brand in a professional manner.
- Assist with Werner’s go-to-market strategy and revenue diversification efforts.
- Work with internal functional areas including Marketing, Pricing, Technology and Operations to identify strategic opportunities, champion those opportunities and collaborate with internal teams to develop tailored solutions to meet client needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Management, Transportation/Logistics, or equivalent experience.
- Five or more years of transportation sales experience.
- Competent in Microsoft suite.
- Dedicated Contract Carriage (DCC) experience preferred.
- Salesforce CRM experience preferred.
