Black Canyon Consulting (BCC) is a premium provider for life sciences, project and program management. We are searching for a Data Wrangler to support our work with a renowned federal agency where you will help drive modernization in one of the world’s largest data repositories.
We are looking for full-time candidates currently residing in the United States. This position is available for remote work.
Position Description
We are seeking a dynamic Data Wrangler that will play a vital role in the success of the IT/Product Modernization for one of the largest public repositories of high throughput data sequencing. The ideal candidate will collect, clean, and transform large datasets, ensuring data quality and accessibility for analysis. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in data manipulation, a keen eye for detail, and experience with various data processing tools and techniques.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate the fitness of the high throughput data, associated metadata, and data structures to support bioinformatic use cases within the repository
- Evaluate new data model components and scientific/user impact
- Engage scientists during stakeholder outreach activities and establish collaborations
- Prepare use case and product documentation for public dissemination
- Publish scientific papers describing SRA use cases
- Assist in development and testing of improved SRA data formats
- Assist in development and testing of improved metadata and sequence search data structures and pipelines
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field; advanced degree desired
- 8+ years experience in data sequencing and data management
- Experience leading and developing data modeling dashboards

We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience and location. The targeted range for this position is $120,000 - $145,000.
