Pan-American Life Insurance Group (PALIG) is seeking a Data Services Analyst 2 to join the U.S. Group Data Services (non-IT) department.
The Data Services Analyst 2 is responsible for managing the majority of EDI (electronic data interface) groups and must understand standard EDI and eligibility requirements to carry out expected duties. While this role does not require extensive software or programming knowledge, the incumbent must have experience with data mining and generating customized reports according to specifications, and be comfortable hosting calls with clients and vendors.
This position also requires a basic understanding of accident and health products and how they are defined and administered by reportable data.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Data Management
- Be familiar with HIPAA 5010 834 eligibility files and learn other formats that PALIG accepts
- Work with clients and vendors to implement EDI for new and existing groups
- Configure groups, process eligibility, review system-generated errors, and communicate discrepancies
- Provide backup to teammates when they are out of the office
- Monitor EDI exchanges and troubleshoot transfer interruptions with IT
- Understand logic and data points that drive outbound and inbound file processes
- Assist with other tasks when asked by team lead or department manager
Administrative Support
- Support administration with management of eligibility and reporting data
- Help team lead draft specifications for, test, and sign off on IT enhancements
- Collaborate with team lead to improve process deficiencies and manage new opportunities from a systems approach
- Set up new coverages, benefits, and accounting details in administrative systems
- Set up Box and MOVEit accounts, plus automated jobs, and troubleshoot issues
- Process assigned workflow tasks correctly and within timing standards
- Extract enrollment and claim data when requested
- Research eligibility when requested
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree from an accredited school or technical college, plus one year of experience required (4 additional years of relevant work experience may be substituted in lieu of degree)
- Working knowledge of all MS Office Suite applications required, with MS Excel and MS Access prioritized
- Basic math skills required
- Excellent attention to detail required
- Excellent organizational and time management skills required
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills required
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills required
- Ability to create and maintain data documents/files required
- Ability to enter data with minimal errors required
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize heavy workload required
- Ability to quickly process, document, and retain important information required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSA's):
- Experience with HIPAA 5010 834 eligibility files
- Knowledge of query writing using MS Access and/or other applications
- Previous knowledge of AS400, AWS Cloud, and SQL Server Data a plus
- Proficiency in other data management systems/tools a plus
- Proficiency in Spanish a plus
- Comfortable participating in and hosting internal and external meetings
- Ability to interact in a professional manner with internal and external parties
- Ability to operate a keyboard and other hardware required to perform essential functions
- Ability to prioritize daily and long-term work while taking the initiative to help team members where possible
- Ability to read and interpret standard business documents and communications
- Ability to travel to or meet in-person at a designated, safe location if requested in advance
- Ability to work under stressful conditions and competitive deadlines
