The Position
As an R/Python developer with a Data Science focus, you will join the data science cluster in the Roche Informatics Data and Analytics Chapter (DnA).
You will be part of one or several multi-disciplinary agile teams where you’ll actively shape the future of healthcare by using data science methods and principles to generate deeper insights from a great variety of data sources. To achieve this, you will proactively identify needs, design and implement analytical solutions, provide advice and consulting support to our key stakeholders and show impact by executing proof-of-value initiatives, or contributing to existing products.
Responsibilites:
● Act as technical advisor and lead developer for all R packages in the project
● Provide guidance to the development team on the packages structure and the integration between R packages and infrastructure components (ReactJS User Interface, MongoDB database)
● Participate in the end-to-end development of the packages, incl. writing proper documentation, unit and integration tests
● Manage package versioning in Git (using Roche’s instance of Gitlab)
● The candidate will perform hands-on programming development tasks using R and Python collaborating with the team of software engineers and submit and perform code reviews using Git
● Support the team in open-sourcing the packages and submitting to CRAN
Requirements:
● 5+ years' experience in software development using R and Python
● Experience developing R Shiny applications as well as Django, Flask or FastAPI
● Understanding of API development process and experience in API development with Plumber and deploying them to Posit (RStudio) Connect
● Strong foundation in data science and machine learning
● Advanced knowledge of the R Programming language including R package development, testing (testthat) and documentation (Rmarkdown)
● Experience with submitting R packages to CRAN is a plus
● Experience in creating test cases for R packages and creating a testing strategy to fit the business requirements
● Critical thinking and ability to supervise the development of several R packages
● Understanding open-source software development
● Practitioner of Agile (Scrum) methodology
● Experience performing code reviews
● Git version control experience
● Experience in working with CI/CD managed environments
● Familiar with Pandas and numpys libraries
● Excellent communication skills
