Job Details
Responsibilities:
- The holder of this position may perform the following tasks:
- Leads medium-to-large scale insight projects, from outlining scope and planning to execution and delivery, with support from the Director of Analytics and Decision Science where necessary.
- Acts as the expert on internal data resources for the wider business.
- Serves as the key resource for interpreting data and information; communicates results to team members.
- Operates as the primary contact between departments and IT to facilitate the delivery of analytic solutions.
- Works closely with IT project managers and operations to coordinate cross-functional project activities and ensures deliverables are accurate and meet customer requirements.
- Partners effectively with Regional and Functional leaders to assess strategic challenges and provides recommendations for enhanced solutions and specifications for analytic tools. Builds and maintains alignment with ongoing strategic initiatives and can prioritize effectively.
- Manages the delivery of analytic solutions to internal and external customers.
- Maintains and develops strong working relationships with business owners as a process advocate.
- Build close working relationships with the lead team, regional senior management, as well as other key commercial stakeholders. Develops clear and concise communications to influence and shape business priorities.
- Play a vocal and approachable role of thought-leader to the business on all issues relating to analytics, predictive modelling, simulation modelling, as well as RPA.
- Lead and develop a team of highly capable, driven analysts, ensuring they are motivated and maximally utilized whilst developing them into future leaders

Education:
- Requires training in fields such as Mathematics, Data Science, or Computer science generally obtained through completion of a three/four-year bachelor's degree program
Work experience:
- Requires a minimum of three years direct progressively responsible experience in a data science field, ideally in a relevant sector - ideally logistics
Skills and Knowledge:
- Building Quantitative/Machine learning models to help achieve team goals. These will likely differ from case to case.
- Validating various AI models
- Hands on experience coding and understanding algorithms
- Ability to effectively participate in cross-functional problem-solving teams
- Ability to provide expert steer and knowledge into wider team settings, leading where required
- Ability to consult business units with a professional demeanour
- Maturity and poise required to manage junior team member(s) essential
- Planning, analytical, and conceptual skills to evaluate business problems and identify and apply appropriate solutions
- Strong business acumen
- Expert skillset in relational databases (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server or Access) and data management essential
- Experience with object-oriented programming (Python) essential
- Experience with Databricks desirable
- Experience with Alteryx desirable
- Strong skillset and experience with business intelligence tools, capabilities, and best practices essential
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and Excel (expert) required
