Job Description
Job Purpose:
The Data Science Engineer (BI Developer) plays a key role in our company by taking various data sets and creating dashboards telling an impactful story for business leaders. A person in this role must be able to create advanced data models, work with business on requirements, complete technical documentation, and testing, create stories using BI dashboards, data-mine big data and iterate work with leaders across the enterprise.
Responsibilities:
- Building required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation of complex sets of data and loading of data from various data sources
- Building analytical tools to utilize the data pipeline, providing actionable insight into key business performance metrics
- Ensure deliverables have Executive presence and efficient processes
- Creating insightful reports and presentations for business uses; Works beyond requirements to have visual storytelling and scalability
- Identifying, designing, and implementing internal process improvements including re-designing processes for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes
- Working with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to support their data infrastructure needs while assisting with data-related technical issues
- Ensure data architecture, data model and dashboards standards are followed
Qualifications
Must have:
- 2 years+ experience: Microsoft Power BI
- Advance EXCEL knowledge
Desirable:
- Basic knowledge of R, SQL and Python
- 1 year experience/ Intermediate – advanced knowledge in Power Query, M and DAX language.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Results driven and able to handle multiple projects
- Advanced level of experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Power Query)
- Strong mathematics skills (e.g., statistics, algebra)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills associated with working on unstructured datasets
- Ability to communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way
- Ability to visualize data in the most effective way possible for a given project or study
- Ability to work independently and with team members from different backgrounds
- Ability to perform root cause analysis on external and internal processes and data to identify opportunities for improvement and answer questions
- Excellent attention to detail
Professional Experience:
- College Degree required (Statistics, Industrial Engineer, or related field).
- Advanced analytic and dashboarding experience required.
- Data Mining, Data Engineer, or Data Scientist experience preferred
