Brief Overview of Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Data Product Owner to own the design and delivery of a domain-oriented data mart that powers advanced analytics, AI/ML, and self-service BI across the organization. You will collaborate with business leaders, analytics professionals, and engineers to create data products that drive innovation and strategic decision-making. This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of critical data assets, balance technical contribution with strategic planning, and directly impact the organization’s analytics transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the vision, strategy, and roadmap for data products (e.g., data marts, dashboards, advanced analytics solutions) within a given domain, aligning them with business objectives and stakeholder needs

  • Champion a “data-as-a-product” approach, ensuring that data products drive measurable business value

  • Partner with stakeholders to gather and translate business requirements into detailed user stories, technical specifications, and acceptance criteria

  • Own the design and delivery of data products by working directly with a cross-functional team, including data engineers and BI developers, focusing on:

    • Robust data models for BI, self-service, and advanced analytics

    • Reusable and scalable data pipelines, transformation logic, and performance optimization within the presentation layer

  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for data products to measure their adoption, usage, and business impact

  • Conduct hands-on testing of data models, pipelines, and BI solutions to ensure accuracy, scalability, and usability, using SQL, Python, or tools like Coalesce

  • Build prototypes for dashboards or reports using tools like Power BI, as needed

  • Work closely with analytics teams to identify and support advanced analytics and AI/ML use cases, helping the business evolve beyond standard reporting into predictive and prescriptive analytics for strategic decision-making

  • Collaborate with business users to create self-service analytics solutions, empowering them to leverage domain specific data marts and other data products effectively, providing training or support as needed

  • Enforce data governance practices, ensuring data products comply with enterprise standards for security, lineage, and data quality

  • Maintain clear and comprehensive data product documentation and deliver regular progress updates to stakeholders

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in data and analytics, data product management, or related roles, with 3+ years in a product ownership or leadership position in data and analytics

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field (Master’s preferred)

  • Excellent product management skills, from defining and prioritizing product roadmaps to aligning technical execution with business goals

  • Ability to manage competing priorities on complex, fast-paced projects, initiatives, and deliverables

  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills for cross-functional collaboration

  • Excellent data storytelling skills to articulate insights and value to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Strong understanding of modern enterprise data architectures

  • Advanced SQL skills for querying, transforming, and validating data in Snowflake

  • Experience in designing and optimizing ETL/ELT processes to ensure data pipelines deliver clean, reliable data for analytics

  • Proficiency with data modeling concepts, including star schema and snowflake schema design; knowledge of Data Vault 2.0 is a plus

  • Experience with Coalesce, dbt, or similar tools for data transformations, and Airflow for orchestration

  • Strong proficiency in BI tools like Power BI, including the ability to build prototypes, test visualizations, and ensure dashboards and reports meet business needs

  • Strong understanding of data governance principles and best practices, including data lineage, cataloging, and validation frameworks; experience with Collibra is a plus

  • Experience with embedding predictive analytics outputs within data products

  • Familiarity with AI/ML workflows and the ability to prepare datasets for advanced analytics (e.g., feature stores); experience with R or Python is preferred

  • Understanding of statistical analysis techniques (e.g., regression, clustering, time-series analysis) to guide data product development and analysis is preferred
