POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant data protection and privacy laws. Key role in safeguarding Kemper’s data privacy practices and guides the business in proper management of personal information. Collaborates with colleagues from the office of Corporate Legal and from several other functions, including HR, IT, CISO, Marketing, Finance and Procurement.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees Kemper’s Privacy Program adherence and application directly into company’s processes and workflows by ensuring data handling practices comply with privacy regulations applicable to Kemper throughout every stage of data processing from collection to deletion.
- Directly collaborates with the Business on strategies and projects ensuring execution and deliverables are compliant with Kemper’s internal privacy policies and procedures.
- Supports the ongoing Privacy Platform implementation by analyzing Kemper’s data environments, outlining strategies for successful transition and in support of data collection, storage, processing, etc.
- Conducts Data Privacy Risk Assessments (DPIAs)
- Oversees the data discovery process for servicing various types of Data Subject Rights (DSR) Requests by navigating the efficiency of the response program
- Leads the development and reporting on privacy program success metrics
- Prepares materials for annual privacy training company-wide and responsible for producing publications, materials and communications to promote privacy practices and initiatives.
- Partners with Chief Data Officer by providing detailed insight and analysis based on categories of data in support of the privacy deliverables
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or Technical or Process Design/Engineering or related field required.
- At least 3 years’ experience in data privacy, data management or cyber security or related field.
- Familiarity with privacy solution software, such as One Trust or Big ID. Preferably proficient in the implementation and use of such privacy solution software.
- Strong understanding or privacy laws and regulations, such as CCPA, GLBA, FCRA, CAN-SPAM, TCPA, and HIPAA.
- Understanding of or exposure to industry information governance, risk and security standards or frameworks and professional practices (NIST, ISO, CIS, etc.).
- Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT) or other privacy-related certification preferred but not required.

- The range for this position is $59,9000 to $99,700. When determining candidate offers, we consider experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location among other factors. This job is also eligible for our Kemper benefits package (Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401k, etc.)
- The ideal candidate will be able to work out of our Chicago, IL office.
