Data Platform Engineer

NN Digital Hub is a subsidiary company of Nationale Nederlanden Group located in Madrid, Spain. We deliver IT services and solutions for the different international Business Units from Nationale Nederlanden Group

We are looking for an experienced Data Platform Engineer to join our team and help us build a scalable and flexible data platform that meets the needs of our business units. You will be working in an international team, mainly remote, with occasional travel to our business units.

What is the purpose/mission of the position?

Your impact as a Data Platform Engineer as part of the Data Platform International team will enable NN International to be a data driven company by helping our International business units to deliver high-quality software components, used at the BU’s to compile data systems which make Nationale Nederland the leading data-driven financial services company.

In your role you will be able to design and implement code that will be re-used by more than 100 data engineers over 10+ teams in our 15 countries.

You will work together with our development teams to ensure that our data platform is aligned with our business goals and objectives. Our infrastructure runs on MS Azure cloud and we use Terraform as IaC. We test with Terratest, and we use Azure Data Factory for pipelines and orchestration and Databricks for processing and transforming data.

What are the tasks that you’ll perform?

• You will refine, build, test, deploy and automate data components for our International Business Units to use on top of our common data platform

• Understand the needs of your various customers from different business units and translate them to modular solutions which are usable by the vast majority

• You actively brainstorm and design solutions to optimize the data platform solution architecture along with other team members both from our international community as well as the NN Group team(s)

• Share knowledge in our data engineering community, pair program and collaborate on code together with other data engineers within NN and actively participate in the innersource community of NNDAP.

• Enable business teams to run successful data and AI projects and be a tech savvy or mentor other junior engineers.

What are we looking for?

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field

• 7+ 5+ years of relevant software, data and/or platform engineering experience, building platforms which are modular, testable, scalable and easily consumable.

• Have 3+ years hands-on experience on one or more cloud services (Azure) like: ADF, Data-lake, Delta-lake, Databricks, Key Vaults, BigQuery, Datapipeline, etc.

• Experience with Data as Code; version control, small and regular commits, unit tests, CI/CD, packaging, branching, containerization, etc.

• Communication skills and ability to communicate in English
