About the Role
At Mastery Logistics, we are building a comprehensive cloud-based transportation management service (TMS) to help large shippers, carriers, and logistics service providers manage complex transportation needs. As we continue enrolling customers, we face several complex problems requiring creative, data-intensive solutions to automate operations at scale.
We are seeking a Senior Data Ops Engineer to join our growing Data Infrastructure Operations team. In this role, you'll play a critical part in supporting and optimizing the data platform that powers our data warehouse and reporting products. You'll be responsible for building, maintaining, and enhancing systems that ensure our data pipelines run reliably and efficiently - with a focus on automation, monitoring, and scalability.
You'll work hands-on with our tech stack of modern tooling like Kubernetes (AKS), Airflow, Kafka Connect, Terraform, dbt, Snowflake, and various Azure cloud services.
Responsibilities

  • Support and enhance data pipeline infrastructure
  • Lead small to medium size projects
  • Review and provide feedback on pull requests
  • Effectively communicate issues and current status
  • Understand and enforce application and data security
  • Follow established controls to ensure the accuracy and quality of data through all upstream and downstream data channels
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills


Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, DevOps, or a similar infrastructure or platform focused role.
  • 2+ years of experience with Terraform or similar IaC tools.
  • Kubernetes experience, especially deploying and managing distributed applications in production environments.
  • Experience with change data capture (CDC) pipelines using Kafka and Kafka Connect.
  • Experience with columnar data stores and data warehousing with Snowflake.
  • Experience with orchestration tools like Airflow.
  • Familiarity with GitHub Actions, version control, and infrastructure-as-code best practices.
  • Proficiency in setting up and managing reliable observability tools - especially New Relic for monitoring and alerting.
  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, etc.) and a bias toward automation.


Estimated Compensation:
$120,000 - $140,000 base salary per annum (commensurate with experience and ability)
