Intro and job overview:
Precisely’s Summer Internship Program is a paid, part-time opportunity for undergraduate students actively enrolled in university. This is an 10-week program that begins June 9th and ends on August 15th. This opportunity is 100% remote and you must be located in the United States during the summer internship. The Data Operations and Business Intelligence Intern will work closely with the IT team.
DataOps is responsible for the continuous improvement and utilization of Precisely’s data in Salesforce, NetSuite, and other enterprise systems. The Data Operations/Business Intelligence intern will support the strategic initiative to re-platform our data warehouse from SQL Server to Snowflake, as well as helping support and grow our Business Intelligence Center of Excellence (BI CoE).
Responsibilities and duties:
- Support the BI Center of Excellence, which is focused on creating a data driven culture focused on sharing, teaching, identifying performance improvements, and experimenting with emerging technologies.
- Improve the reliability and speed of Tableau Cloud Extract refreshes by contributing to the migration of data from SQL Server to Snowflake.
- Profile, review, and gain an understanding of several data sources that exist in SQL Server. Recreate SQL Server data assets in Snowflake using SnowSQL.
- Analyze the differences between SQL Server and Snowflake data assets, specifically focused on data accuracy, performance improvements, etc
- Publish data sources and configure extract refreshes on Tableau Cloud.
- Update dashboards and reports on Tableau Cloud. Replace the existing data source with a Snowflake equivalent. Ensure all dashboards are showing accurate data.
- Help non-IT Tableau creators migrate from existing data sources to their Snowflake equivalent.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements and qualifications:
- Pursuing a degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
- Strong analytic skills including experience with Tableau, Excel Pivot Tables, data wrangling, and scripting languages
- Facility with ANSI SQL Language
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Creative, collaborative thinker with an ability to learn new things, assess problems and identify proactive solutions
