You could be the one who changes everything for our 28 million members as an Intern at Centene. During this 12-week program, you'll learn more about Centene and how we're transforming the health of the community, one person at a time.
Position Purpose: This internship will support Business Technology Solutions. The team the intern will be joining provides back-end IT support to Survey Operations, Clinical Operations and HEDIS Operations teams and their efforts to support Centene Quality Regulatory Reporting. (HEDIS stands for Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set – tool used by health plans to measure performance and improve healthcare quality.)
Location Requirement: This is a remote internship. Candidates will be considered nationally within the U.S.; however, preference will be given to candidates residing in Eastern and Central time zones. If residing outside of these two time zones, please be advised that a requirement of the role will be to attend a daily virtual team huddle at 9am CT.
As an intern, you will learn about various processes and functions within the Managed Care industry and develop professionally by contributing to projects that support the business.
- Learn various job functions within the Managed Care industry and explore various career opportunities.
- Apply academic knowledge and learn new skills by contributing to various projects.
- Research various legal, regulatory, and other topics within functional area and industry.
- Attend training and development presentations to enhance professional competencies.
Goals:
Code and review documentation – as this team works on projects, our code and documentation may sometimes get out of sync. Reconciling our documentation with the code we put into production is an important "after action" task that we do not always have the bandwidth to get to. We would ask our intern to review past projects, recommend "fixes", and then implement "fixes" to bring both into parity.
Soft Skills:
- Demonstrates good organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication skills and intellectual curiosity.
Hard Skills:
- Has completed a course in programming.
- Knowledge of basic SQL.
- Can write a program in a scripted language (e.g. C, C++, Java, JavaScript, Python).
Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited university or college in a field related to the hiring department, such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Engineering, or Mathematics, through the internship period.
Pay range: $19-25/hr
