Job Title: Data Engineer
Location: Brooklyn Park, MN
About the Role:
As a Data Engineer, you will build and maintain data systems and constructing datasets that are optimized for analysis, supporting Business Intelligence requirements and downstream systems. You will report to the Head of DD&T.
This is a hybrid position.
How you will Contribute:

  • Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and build new integrations using AWS native technologies to support increasing data sources, volumes, and complexity.
  • Collaborate with analytics and business teams to improve data models that enhance business intelligence tools and dashboards, fostering data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  • Implement processes and systems to ensure data reconciliation, monitor data quality, and ensure production data is accurate and available for key stakeholders, downstream systems, and business processes.
  • Write unit, integration, and performance test scripts, contribute to engineering documentation, and maintain the engineering wiki.
  • Perform data analysis to troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues and work closely with frontend and backend engineers, product managers, and analysts to deliver integrated data solutions.
  • Collaborate with enterprise teams, including Enterprise Architecture, Security, and Enterprise Data Backbone Engineering, to design and develop data integration patterns and models supporting various analytics use cases.
  • Partner with DevOps and the Cloud Center of Excellence to deploy data pipeline solutions in Takeda AWS environments, meeting security and performance standards.
  • Develop, maintain, and curate reusable data assets within the Microsoft Power Platform suite (e.g. Power BI, Dataverse), including supporting business users in accessing and understanding those data assets.


What you bring to Takeda:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering, software development, data warehousing, data lakes, and analytics reporting.
  • Strong expertise in data integration, data modelling, and modern database technologies and Cloud technologies (for example Azure or AWS)
  • Extensive experience in DBA, schema design & dimensional modelling, and SQL optimization.
  • Programming experience in python or other languages
  • Working proficiency with pySpark (Databricks platform preferred)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Understanding of good engineering practices (DevSecOps, source-code versioning, ...)
  • Preferred - Experience with streaming technologies like Spark Streaming or Kafka
  • Preferred - Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience, preferably with Terraform.
  • Preferred - Experience designing and developing API data integrations using SOAP / REST.
  • Preferred - Experience working with Microsoft Power Platform tools (e.g. Power BI, Dataverse)
  • Preferred - AWS Certified Data Engineer / AWS Architect Associate
  • Preferred - Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional or similar

Important Considerations:
At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. In this role, you may:

  • Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.
  • Need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
  • Work in a cold, wet environment.
  • Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours, as necessary.
  • Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection
  • Access to transportation to attend meetings.
  • Ability to fly to meetings regionally and globally.

U.S. Base Salary Range:
$86,500.00 - $135,960.00
The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
