The challenge
To face the everyday challenges of an online global player such as Travix, we need a world league development team that helps us build a solid technical foundation that will support our ambitious recovery and growth plans. We are actively applying the Scrum framework and expect our tech leads to take a leading role in working with their teams to get enhancements delivered to the business.
At Travix we continuously enhance, re-factor and in some cases rebuild applications to be able to handle more brands and countries, to improve the user experience and to optimise business processes. These applications generate large amounts of data that we collect and store to make informed decisions and develop data-driven products. To increase the efficiency and adoption of the data stack within the organisation we need your expert opinion in helping us drive the teams towards delivering more business value. Our goal is to democratise data and to further increase self-service of data collection and analytics within all areas of our organisation.
We are an open organization where your opinion is valued, so be prepared for open discussions, wild ideas and most of all fun! We are looking for a data engineer who’s comfortable working on data lake and/or data warehouse architectures, has experience in batch and streaming data collection and processing, as well as knowledge of modelling data for analytics and complex querying. Furthermore, we are adding more applications and tools to our data stack, so we expect knowledge on application and library development.
We also expect that you are familiar with data quality & governance principles and techniques to ensure the accuracy and consistency of data.
In the data stack at Travix we use the following technologies: Python, Java, Airflow, Apache Beam (Google Dataflow), BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Protocol Buffer, Avro, Parquet, Kubernetes. For Data Governance at Travix we use Monte Carlo and for self-service analytics we have Looker.
As a Data Engineer, you will work as part of a scrum team to build products and services on Travix's technology platform. You’re familiar with best practices around reliable data pipelines (both batch and streaming), data modelling techniques and software engineering. You enjoy working in an environment that will encourage creative thinking and an environment of innovation.
