The Corporate R&D organisation is seeking a passionate Data Engineer to join the team at our Reading Innovation Centre. In this dynamic role, you will help develop, deploy, and sustain robust digital infrastructure and data assets that drive R&D initiatives forward.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define common data models, architecture, and strategy to enable faster and more effective learning across complex R&D challenges, collaborating closely with multiple scientific disciplines. Anticipate and integrate new digital technologies and techniques that enhance data insights for our innovators.

  • Develop models in partnership with data scientists and statisticians to drive data-driven decisions.

  • Deploy models for initial testing and ensure successful transitions to P&G corporate systems for broader application.

  • Collaborate with the team that oversees the R&D on-premises servers and cloud infrastructure used by a wide range of R&D customers.

  • Partner with IT to streamline processes for exploring and testing new digital technologies.  Establish clear guidelines for application development, testing, and transition to production systems.

  • Deliver applications by leveraging database skills with R and Python coding.

Job Qualifications

What we are looking for:

  • Ideally you hold a Masters’ degree in Computer Science/ Engineering/Information Systems Management, or related field. We would also accept equivalent in-role experience as a data engineer or a computer systems engineer.

  • Strong expertise in data engineering and computer systems engineering, including coding skills in Python and R, as well as familiarity with APIs and containers.

  • Enthusiasm for improving data collection, feature engineering, and analysis processes, and a passion for creating innovative, standardized, and/or simplified solutions. Knowledge of statistics and/or data science is a plus.

  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills with a proven ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple tasks. We are also looking for someone with the ability to influence and drive transformation to elevate the work of R&D innovators.

  • Experience or knowledge in developing and deploying models, with the ability to leverage continuous integration/continuous delivery pipelines for software deployment.

  • Experience with GitHub, Databricks, and Azure.
