As a Data Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Cybersecurity Technology Resilience department, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the resilience and reliability of our data infrastructure. Your expertise in data engineering will be leveraged to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including cybersecurity, technology controls, and business units, to design and implement data solutions that align with the firm's strategic goals. Your work will directly contribute to safeguarding the firm's data assets and ensuring the continuity of essential business services.
As a Data Engineer III in Cybersecurity Technology Resilience, you will utilize your skills to develop and maintain data pipelines and architectures. Your role is vital in ensuring the resilience of our data infrastructure, collaborating with various teams to align with strategic goals, and safeguarding essential business services.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Utilize SQL frequently and possess an understanding of NoSQL databases.
  • Manage & optimize databases for performance and efficiency.
  • Design & build data pipelines that clean, transform, and aggregate data from disparate sources.
  • Update logical or physical data models based on new use cases and business requirements, to help draw a more comprehensive picture of user flows throughout the system and to enable powerful data analysis.
  • Develop new models that can be used to make predictions and answer questions for the overall business.
  • Contribute to a team culture that values diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.


Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Formal training or certification on data engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience.
  • Proficiency in SQL and database technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability across the data lifecycle, from data collection to analysis & reporting.
  • Experience with data query languages, such as SQL, NoSQL, and GraphQL.
  • Experience with data structures, such as NoSQL, OTF, and RDMS.
  • Experience with various database technologies, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
  • Experience with analytics engines/platforms, such as Apache Spark and Hadoop.
  • Experience with data migration and mapping complex relational data between business systems.


Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Degree, or equivalent practical experience, in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to translate business requirements into data engineering solutions.
  • Experience of data science methods including statistical and analytical techniques.
  • Experience in Data Mining techniques used in data science and data analytics.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to foster relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Advocate for driving efficiencies, stabilization, and continuous improvement.

The Cybersecurity & Technology Controls group at JPMorganChase aligns the firm's cybersecurity, access management, controls and resiliency teams. The group proactively and strategically partners with all lines of business and functions to enable them to design, adopt and integrate appropriate controls; deliver processes and solutions efficiently and consistently; and drive automation of controls. The group's number one priority is to enable the business by keeping the firm safe, stable and resilient.
High Risk Roles (HRR) are sensitive roles within the technology organization that require high assurance of the integrity of staff by virtue of 1) sensitive cybersecurity and technology functions they perform within systems or 2) information they receive regarding sensitive cybersecurity or technology matters. Users in these roles are subject to enhanced pre-hire screening which includes both criminal and credit background checks (as allowed by law). The enhanced screening will need to be successfully completed prior to commencing employment or assignment.
