As a Data Center Engineer at Carbon Robotics you will work alongside our Engineering and R&D teams to build AI and robotics products. You are the goto person for all things Data Center.

Carbon Robotics is seeking a highly skilled Data Center Engineer with an IT background to build, maintain and optimize our data center infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing server hardware, networking equipment, and security while ensuring high availability and operational efficiency. Additionally, this role involves providing IT support, troubleshooting technical issues, and collaborating with internal teams to improve system performance and security.
What you’ll do:
Data Center Operations & Infrastructure:
- Install, configure, and maintain data center hardware, including servers, storage systems, and networking devices.
- Monitor data center operations to ensure uptime, performance, and security.
- Perform routine maintenance, firmware updates, and troubleshooting of data center systems.
- Manage power and cooling systems to maintain optimal operating conditions.
- Implement and enforce best practices for data center security, redundancy, and disaster recovery.
- Document infrastructure configurations, network diagrams, and maintenance schedules.
IT Support & Systems Administration:
- Provide hands-on IT support for software and network-related issues as assigned.
- Support cloud and hybrid infrastructure solutions in collaboration with engineering teams.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Success:
- 3+ years of experience in data center operations, IT support, or infrastructure engineering
- Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure, including racks, cabling, and power management.
- Experience with Docker.
- Experience with server hardware (Dell, HP, Cisco, etc.) and storage systems (SAN, NAS)
- Proficiency in networking concepts (LAN, WAN, VLANs, TCP/IP, firewalls, and load balancing).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is a plus.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and access controls.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Work Conditions:
- On-site work with occasional remote support responsibilities.
- Ability to lift and install server equipment (up to 100 lbs as a team with Server Lift).
- May require on-call availability for emergency support.

The compensation range outlined is based on a target budgeted base salary. Individual base pay depends on various factors such as relevant experience and skill, Interview assessments and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements. Offers are determined using our equitable hiring practices. Carbon Robotics offers additional compensation in the form of benefits premiums, pre-IPO stock options and On Target Earning commissions for appropriate positions. Base pay ranges are reviewed each year. We are committed to the principle of pay equity – paying employees equitably for similar work.
Carbon Robotics' base salary pay range:
$115,000—$135,000 USD
