Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team in the role of CVML Engineer. This position supports the See & Spray CVML group within Blue River Technology and interfaces with multiple internal stakeholder groups including field operations, data platform, labeling services, and product management.
Our hired candidate will play a crucial role in implementing Data Centric AI practices for the See & Spray project. You have an analytical mind and take a data driven approach to answering questions. Your contributions will be instrumental in driving the success of our machine learning initiatives and enabling evidence-based decision-making throughout the company.
Job Responsibilities
A combination, not necessarily all-inclusive, of the following:
- Create an accessible catalog of our current data holdings.
- Use weak supervision pipelines and Foundation Models to guide strategies for future data collection.
- Work closely with Product, Data Platform, and Field Engineering teams to ensure data quality and availability.
- Execute best practices for building ML products that satisfy requirements from a broad set of stakeholders. Put CVML and Foundation Models to work for data cleaning, enrichment, and selection to build high-quality datasets for training CVML models.
- Train and fine-tune CVML models using both existing and custom datasets.
- Create and manage reports using internal tools to assess data quality / quantity and track progress towards key performance indicators.
- Present weekly / bi-weekly data pipeline status reports to internal teams and key stakeholders.
Required Experience and Skills
- 3 to 6 years of related CVML eng experience.
- Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data analysis, such as Python or R.
- Familiarity with deep learning frameworks, such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively communicate complex technical concepts.
- Passion for emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, and computer vision.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
Preferred Experience and Skills
- Prior experience or coursework in CVML research.
- Familiarity with agriculture technology, agronomy, or farming.
- Knowledge of data visualization best practices and effective storytelling with data.
- Understanding of data modeling and database design principles.

The US annual base salary range for this position is $133,000 - $238,000, along with eligibility for Blue River’s bonus and benefit programs.
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process. During the recruitment process, we may identify an alternative role or level to which you are more suited.
