The CRNA Anesthetist provides anesthesia services at VCU Medical Center for all age groups.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Current RN license in Virginia
Current license to practice in specialty area (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist-CRNA) in Virginia
Current CRNA certification by the National Board on Certification/Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
Current RN License in Virginia
Current license in Virginia to practice in specialty area (CRNA)
Complete 40 CEU’s every 2 years
Credentialing in accordance with medical staff by-laws for specific job title
Experience REQUIRED:
None required
Experience PREFERRED:
Academic health care experience
One (1) year within the specialty practice area
Education/training REQUIRED:
Masters Degree in Nursing from an accredited program specific to area of practice*
*Applicants with current advanced practice licensure may be within one semester of graduation from obtaining a MSN Degree or higher, which must be completed within six months of hire to continue employment.

Independent action(s) required:
Must possess knowledge of local, federal and state laws and regulations and The Joint Commission (TJC) standards related to position’s chief objective and demonstrate aptitude for compliance with VCUHS policies, procedures and customer services philosophy.
